Hello CGN

Does anyone have a set of M1 Garand Gas Cylinder Gauges in Alberta I can borrow? Preferably in Red Deer, Calgary or Edmonton area. I have a few Gas Cylinders I'd like to inspect before I start my first M1 Garand build.

Cheers

Hi

You can try a poor man's gauge. Use the belted end of a case such as a .300 Win Mag. or a .375 H&H Mag. They are .530" O.D. and just fit in the first inch or so of a gas cylinder.
Gas Cylinder - Maximum Diameter Specification (main part of cyl.) = 0.530" (field reject @ 0.532") Surfaces must be smooth & unscored.

You can mic the belt on the cartridge case for the right die, you can get a .001" variation of fired cartridge cases .530", .531" etc..

Just in case you can't find the gauges.

Pete
