M1 Garand Gas Plug Issue

I'm having an issue with the gas plug on my 1941 M1 Garand. No matter how much I tighten it using the provided tool or flat head screw driver it eventually starts to unscrew and loosen itself off after 40-50 rounds. I've only ever shot the American Eagle 30-06 ammo specifically designed for M1 Garand use. Any suggestions/tips would be appreciated. Maybe loctite? I dunno.

This is a common occurrence. Just keep an appropriate tool in your range box. A loose plug will cause erratic functioning and accuracy. I check them for tightness about every 18-20 rds.

If it's the 'original' gas plug maybe the threads are just wearing out. That or the gas cylinder too where it threads into?

I LNIB gas plug is not too expensive. Maybe try another one from a friend's rifle to see if this resolves your problem before buying another newer one?
