M1 Garand goes boom

Just looking through old M1 Garand threads as I have interest in getting one...is this "common"? Something you should be fearful or worried about or?

It is very common, in fact no one should be owning them. Send PM for my address so they can all be sent to me for safe and proper disposal.

The Garand action is one of the strongest ever - according to Colonel Hatcher.

I was shooting my M1 t'other day with my usual 150 gr service load. The M1 is so soft shooting, I just don't understand less than full loads.

As for the M1 firing out of battery, I've heard that it can 'slam fire' on chambering. Never had the problem.

The M1 in that girl's hands was too much gun for her. Somebody did something stupid for that to happen.

Burrrrrr, this is why I shoot Enfield's.

This video just saved me money I will not be buying one of those exploding garands. That just made the price of SKS go up in my book.

A little off topic. How many rounds does a M1 carbine hold?

Yes the Lee Enfield is the best rifle of WW1, WW2, Korean War. Bolt action way more accurate.

Oh I have seen Enfields that have disassembled themselves without the need of a screwdriver too. Name the gun and they have blown up.

As far as the accuracy goes the SMLE ain't really gonna beat a Garand or a 14 either. Even the newer barreled ones I have had were 3 inch shooters on good day. Granted if I were a 3 inch shooter offhand I wwould be thrilled.

M1 carbines had 15 and 30 round mags
