That's pretty cool.
That's not how it works. If it's an M1 Garand, it's always an M1 Garand, no matter what you do to it. The only ways to turn a Garand Prohibited are to make it full auto or cut it too short.
And the frankengarand doesn't go "PING".I dunno, but a Tipo2 Garand in 7.62 with an 8 rd clip seems to beat a frankengarand with a blocked 5 rd mag. Then there's always room for experimentation with a Garand in .458 Win mag.
Oh yes it does still remain a M1 Garand . As for getting parts kits from the US good luck many of the components are blocked under ITAR for shipment from THE US . SARCO and Nuremberg do ship parts Kits outside of the USSo you're telling me if you take an M1 garand, and do the exact same modifications the Italians did to make their BM59. You wouldn't make a BM59 you just have a modified Garand? I don't think it works that way.
embrace the "ping"
It appears that the italians made 19.25 inch barreled m1 garand rifles
The problem is no one makes the barrel or is willing to convert barrels to this length
If it aint broke dont fix it.
If you are going to modify your garand spend the money and buy good aftermarket 308,or 7.62 barrel and be happy. You wont need a shorter op rod and you will maintain the 8rd enblock.
It is much faster to load an enbloc pingy than to change a mag. ! Now if i could build another in 223 that would be really interesting.
my 2 cents
