Not sure if brownells can export muzzle brakes..:(

You don't need it. The Garand is perfect as it is. Only tanks and artillery pieces need muzzle brakes

ive seen videos of the garand with and without the muzzle brake, the brake i'm looking at ejects gas up and to the sides, good enough to noticeably lower muzzle rise. I know where you are going with this. (dont modify a m1 garand :nest:).

i never will modify this garand when it comes to permanent irreversible modifications ( drilling receiver for mount etc). i want to put m14.ca MRD instead of the rear sight for a red dot and a muzzle brake for faster target acquisition ( i would like to do 2/3 gun matches with this) :d

The Garand is quite heavy, the gas system buffers the recoil and the stock profile is good, all making for a comparatively light recoil.
Adding a muzzle brake would be an unnecessary solution for a non-existant problem. Thankfully there aren't a lot of aftermarket gee-haws and whifftickers on offer for them.

1st gun is an m1a, 2nd is m1 garand with muzzle brake, 3rd is w/o muzzle brake.. visible difference in recoil.

You'll find one, they are in Canada. I have one and like it. Really tames the 30-06 recoil.
Don't see how this could be itar, its not military, an aftermarket part.

$150USD is ludicrous for something so totally useless. There is muzzle jump, but the felt recoil is nothing.
Anyway, not all firearm parts are ITAR controlled, but some stuff is regardless of the firearm it was made to go on. Brownell's will tell you with an e-mail or phone call.

I think that we are talking about folks being mesmerized by the latest gadget for this and that, just because it is available. Over 6 million Garands were made for military service and they were used effectively by millions of troops over a period of several decades. The only muzzle attachments that were ever deemed to be a military necessity were a bayonet, a grenade launcher and a flash hider for the sniper variants.

yes the garand by itself is an excellent rifle. but those attachments are military necessities.. not 3gun or competition necessities. if a 150$ muzzle brake will lower the amount of muzzle rise on my rifle then i would get it. Just like a red dot sight would help with faster target acquisition then the factory iron sights.

edit: brownells wont ship muzzle brakes to canada :( so i am stuck to buying in canada) does anyone know where i can get one of these?

edit2: just ordered the MRD mount from m14.ca. now to find a jpoint red dot sight and a muzzle brake and im good to go!
