M1 garand prices gone up???

No kidding "It can be yours for only $16,999.95 + Shipping . "

New level of humor, too bad for the other CGN adds and the dealers who are paying for the site.

I think a Garand with a 3 digit ser number sold for $2500.... which may have been a bit high,(for a rebuild) but if it had still been in it's original condition ( a gas trap M1) it would have been worth around $30,000! and that's the truth.....

This whole little price war/joke may be my fault. It was I who advertised a 3 digit serial Garand for over $2000. If it was an un-modified (gas trap M1) it would sell for six figures in the US.

Nevertheless it is still one of the first 100 rifles ever issued to the US Army and my price evaluation was given to me by a US Garand Collector/Expert.
You can't tell me that a three digit Colt, Enfield, or one of the first 100 Mauser K98's wouldn't be selling for a similar price?

Yup and it's already sold hasn't it. So if I have one of the last 100 made would it be worth 2500 as well??? A rifles a rifle there's no difference between newer and older when it comes to the Garand and if any "Expert" says otherwise then I guess that's why He's a so called Expert usually.

A Gas trap receiver only has a premium value to a collector who would buy it as the basis for a gas trap restoration project. Other than that it is just another shooter in it's present configuration, although a curiosity because of it's low s/n. The cost of a gas trap restoration is prohibitive as critical parts, such as the original short barrel and gas trap assembly, are virtually impossible to find.

Mines up at a high price because of this... Figured why not see if it will go at that price. Its nice to see the current asking price could be hundreds of dollars more then last week. :p

Hi agentcq,

Honestly, I don't see how it's your fault. It's your add, and you can ask whatever you want, and let the market decide how much they are willing to pay.

I agree with the others that your price is generally considered pretty high for a refinished gun / no longer original WW2 USGI. But that's why I'm not buying it myself, I'm not going to comment on if others are willing to pay that price for a 3 digit Garand in that condition, maybe others have a different view of value.

I don't see why people need to be rude about it and start posting fake adds, that are potentially messing with people taking your add seriously. Seems kinda immature to me, and like I said it's not like you're the only one to ask that sort of price, but nobody is joking about other peoples adds, we have all seen lots of high priced refinished milsurp stuff on the EE. It's up to the buyer to research and decide if it will be worth it to them, and for all we know maybe there is a market for such things and more than several people would be willing to pay that.

Sucks that people are making the EE look less than serious, it's a place where people sell guns, I expected more maturity here.

There is no such thing as a price gouger; the final decision rests with the buyer as he can pay what ever he wants. I expect people not to plug up the EE with idiotic ads.

I agree 100% and am disappointed that the EE mods have not quashed these joke ads. I'd be mighty p*ssed off right now to have a legitimate ad in the milsurp EE let alone a legitimate ad for a Garand.

Nobody is forcing anyone else to buy a firearm on the EE --- it's your choice and if you don't like a price move on. Here's a news flash: some people actually have more money than time! Finding a Garand in decent condition that is easily accessible (i.e., one PM away), but might have a lofty price, is a good proposition for some.

Here's another news flash: not everyone in the EE is selling with the hopes of enriching another person's collection at bargain prices. Some people float rifles that they may not be eager to sell, but know there is an demand, and are waiting for someone with the cash and desire. These are the ads that you see bumped regularly, but with no price drop. If you think someone's Garand is overpriced, why don't you call LeBaron's up and ask them to order you one in? :D Yeah, that's what I thought...

Bingo and have 20 BTTs with no price change and yeah a $5 dollar drop in price isn't really worth the time.

Agreed. The jokers should have their EE privileges revoked for a year or so until they grow up.

But you expect Price Gougers?

Hey - Like I said I would not personally pay that much, and yes I agree in MY OPINION it is too much, but I'm not going to go out of my way to be rude about it. I agree it can be annoying, more so when the same items are bumped 30+ times with no price drops, but using that as some justification to start posting fake adds, making the EE look like a joke, I don't see how that is right. Not to mention the add that start this wasn't bumped excessively and he stated why he thinks it MIGHT be worth that much to somebody. He's not forcing you to buy it.....
