Gentlemen,
Now that we know that CMP is out of M1 Garands for now, I have some questions for you. How many of you are collecting or firing your M1 Garands? If collecting do you breakdown how you collect them? Do you breakdown by the maker, early, late types, British Proofs, Snipers, Inspector's stamp etc. ? Why I am asking this is on different sites I see guys looking to build their collection looking for parts, stampings, Drawing numbers, etc,. Do you have that one M1 Garand that you use as your special M1, for shooting or collecting?

Thanks again
Clancy

"...we know that CMP is out of M1 Garands for now..." Who cares? They won't sell to Canadians anyway.
"...Who is CMP?..." Civilian Marksmanship Program. Stateside.
"...British Proofs..." Are M-1's that went through an English milsurp exporter's warehouses. They're not expecially collectable.

Well sunray, if CKP is out of garands that will drive American demand and prices up, which will affect us. Not that Garand prices aren't already to high here...

I can only afford one, so that's the one that I shoot. Nice rifle, Springfield, peacetime manufacture, real good shape, shoots real good. Happy.

(Be happier with a .280 Ross Military Match, mind you!)

Surplus gun prices are based on supply and demand. The demand for M1 garands is hi[ very hi for specific types] while supply is low. Almost all military stockpiles of M1 garands are used up. Myself, I do not care what make or model, just as long as it is in good shape and shoots good.
