Well I should be getting my M1 Garand in the mail soon, but I cant seem to find much for scope mounts in Canada. I'm looking for a no-gunsmith bolt on for the rear sight mount that, of course, holds zero. No scout mounts or drill & tap mounts. I see B Square makes one, but who sells them? And while weyre at it, who sells a good adjustable gas lock in Canada?
Thanks

Seriously scoping a Garand is an exercise in futility. About the only thing you can do is get a scout mount and scout scope but, yuck!!!

I agree scout scopes look like s#$t, but I like a scope for longer ranges. Fulton armory has a nice mount for the rear sight mount, but they dont export to Canada. From pics I found on google, it looks like the B-square mount still retains the rear aperture, leaving the irons useable with the scope installed. It to is bolt on. Anyone else know of a Garand scope mount in Canada?

M1's just don't take scoping well. Throws the balance off too.
Fulton Armory's mount(made by S&K, I think) put the scope far too high. B-Square doesn't list an M1 mount on their site, but another site does show their mount(that replaces the rear sight). It's way too high too. You'd have to track down a cheek piece to go on the stock as well.
The mount used on the sniper variants had the 7/8" tube diameter scope and mount on the left side of the rifle. They had a check rest screwed onto the stock.
"...for longer ranges..." Put a National Match front sight on. Thinner blade.

you guys are missing the point. I'm looking for a scope mount for a Garand. just someone who knows where I can get one in Canada. even if I try a bunch that dont work, even if I'm wasting my time and money. Thats how all my other projects came to be and when I found what I like, I stick with it. Sure I could bring it to work and have a scope mounted in a couple hours, but not without permanently modding it. not gonna happen. thats why I want to try some no-gunsmith mounts. BTW Satain, that vid was quite interesting. I held an M1 sniper when I was quite young, I remember asking my father why the scope was on the side. but I just cant afford one, so this is the path Ive chosen.

You should have no problems ording this one;

B-Sq mount

Bought one on the exchange a month ago, googled it and found I had to remove the rear sight so no more iron sights. Has set screws front and back for elevation and once set it's rock solid. I find that even with the check pad (leather cheek pad just barely visible in 1st pic) I'm still not getting a good check weld, in fact none at all. Compared to my M1-D, the scope is closer to the receiver so I get a good cheek weld.

I tried an S&K scope mount on my M1, one of the off-center types. It was very solid, but I changed my mind, sold the mount, and went back to open sights. Well, a while later I changed my mind again and invested in a good scout (Amega Ranges) rail and threw a scope on that. WAY better than the off-center rear scoping systems, and very solid. I would reccomend trying that.

Well I picked up a used B-square off the EE and mounted my old Redfield today. I must say, the scope suits the rifle perfectly. I find that placing my left hand over the stock gives me a perfect cheek weld, but I'll need to use a sandbag or bipod for shooting that way. I've got a SA cheek piece on order from wolverine that should help with that.
