M1 Garand thumb ???

You haven't lived until you've had double M-1 thumb(s).
That's what can happen when you try to rescue your main hand thumb with your weak hand and things slip and the left thumb gets trapped alongside the right.
It hasn't happened to me since the sixties, before we had communications and manuals.
It is a great teaching tool, though.

"...It is a great teaching tool, though..." Excruciating pain usually is. Whacked a finger with a hammer one time trying to split wood while out camping. Should have been drinking, but was on medication and couldn't. The lesson learned was not to go camping if you can't drink.

I wouldn't want my finger to get thwacked by the bolt on a semi-auto, regardless of what gun it is. As you can guess, those closing springs pack a lot of spring energy.
