M1 garands from milarm in early July

LOL - they are charging $600 to 800!!! At those prices, regular mixmaster garands take weeks to sell in the CGNEE even when availability is a problem.

Last time we had garand imports, they had a tough time moving them all at $250.

Watch for these to sit for a long time and for prices to eventually come WAY down. Frankly, most of the guys who want collectible Garands already have them IMHO.

I'll buy one if the prices go below $350 in a flooded market situation - not a penny more. I pity the fool who pays $800 for a well used refurb mixmaster cosmolened garand when they are NOT hard to find at stores!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, watch for places like Marstar to charge well less than Milarm on this same batch of guns right from the get-go. Milarm alway jacks their pricing for some inexplicable reason.

I will buy one sometime this year. Either from Marstar, or at deflated prices on the board.

Watch for a bunch to show up at CGN in the next few weks before the stuff hits the retail market.

Maybe it's not so bad that I passed on Lever's $149 guns back in '99.

The Garands will sell like hotcakes as the "Garand Drought" has been on for many years in Canada.

In the "Specials" page on the Milarm website, it doesn't say if that is an actual picture, but if it is, that's great, because thats a good size order, and special select to boot!

Even the guys that own the $399 M305/M14 Norinco say the receiver is worth $300 alone.

Look on the EE for Garand parts, theres a bolt for $100 and a barrel for $95, Receivers $225 and up depending on maker. Just a few parts and you hit the $600 mark.

You got to remember, they don't make'em anymore. Just remember the last Garand Drought!

Those prices are the reason those parts are sitting in the EE and not already snatched up.

Agreed, WAY to much. $450 should be the cealing on these. My excitment is deflated, I'll keep browsing the EE.....

Try eBay and US Dollars then! Let me know if they are cheaper ;)

For those who can't afford a Garand, or are on a tight budget, the $399 M305/M14 Norinco (made in China) would be a good choice or alternative.

Yeah, as soon as the next "slow boat" gets here... :(

Or is the song "a slow boat from china"!

ON A SLOW BOAT TO CHINA

Music and Lyrics by Frank Loesser)
Recorded by : Bing Crosby; Kay Kyser; Kay Starr, ...

I'd love to get you
On a slow boat to China,
All to my self alone.
Get you to keep you in my arms evermore,
Leave all your lovers (lovelies)
Weeping on the faraway shore.
Out on the briny
With the moon big and shinny,
Melting your heart of stone.
I'd love to get you
On a slow boat to China,
All to my self alone.

I just bought a reciever for $85 so I think I am going to go the .308 project route rather than one of these. It should be a bit cheaper once I am done and I won't have to reload another caliber that way.

Considering Marstar will sell you stripped receivers for WAY less than CGN EE prices - I wonder if people buying these are INSANE or not?

Don't listen to me if you don't want, but I'm telling you - there are LESS THAN 50 GUYS in all of Canada right now who will pay over $600 for a mismatched refurb Garand and that's because they are CGN shoppers and have convinced themselves it's a fair price.

I still see collectible garands all the time at retail gun sops in the $500 range. But you guys go ahead - place a reserve order at Milarm so I can laugh at you.

Unfortunatly, ebay isn't indicitave of reasonable prices. It only shows what people wanting a certain manufacturer or year will pay to put a rifle together.

If you were going to price rifles based solely on what each of their parts would sell for to desperate ebay members then you'd be paying through the roof.

So now you laugh at people that YOU think overpay for items they want?

At first I saw this news and I was like YES!! Finally some reasonable Garands. Then I saw the price...600-800 bucks!!!! plus more for hand select!!! are you kidding me? I will stick to the EE, at least there are deals to be had there, and if I do pay 600 bucks for a nice Garand in the EE at least I know the money is going to a fellow gun nut.

Just my $0.02,
Logan

I just love the #####in' when new guns come in!

When they'e all gone and there is another 5 year Garand drought (2012), it will be the same song and dance, "When's the next boat of Garands coming in"!!! LOL

Be thankful Milarm is bringing them in.

Instead of argueing, let's just wait and see what a Garand's market value will be late in the fall, early winter. If I'm right it'll be in the $350-400 range. If not, then I will admit I misread the market - but realistically M1's are overpriced right now due to inflated demand.

They made MILLIONS of them. A "nothing special" examples should NOT be selling for $1000 in the CGNEE, and certainly not for $800 at Milarm if hundreds hit the market simultaneously.

It's basic economics - when there's lots of supply, demand will be much less.

Milarm isn't bringing them in - they are reseliing Marstar imports  And at inflated prices, I'll wager as well. For example - can anyone explain to me why they want $100 more than anyone else for the same RC K98k's? ;)
