Do these all run on the same reciever? I've seen all three very closely associated. Can anyone with all three post some photos to show the differences please. In my understanding they are all related but how related? If I have a M1 reciever can I buy an M14 parts kit and build a rifle? I've tried to search through and find this info but seem to keep running into the same questions.
Thanks for responding.

The M14 is the "offspring" of the M1 garand, but you cannot install an M14 parts kit on an M1 Garand receiver. I'll leave it up to you to do some Google searching/reading to figure out why. There's lots of info out there if you're interested.

The M1 Garand is a "long action" designed to fire the 30-06.

The M1A/M14/M305 (I usually say M-14 pattern Rifle) is a short action designed to shoot the 7.62x51 (308 Winchester for us civvies)

The internal trigger components are interchangeable. The rear sight is interchangeable. The trigger pack (the bit that holds all the trigger parts together) are different, one has an interneal non-removable magazine that holds 8 rounds, the other has a removable box magazine.

The barrel, reciever, stocks are not the same.
