M10X 2023 Version

It sure took them a while to figure it out.... their original launch in Canada was such a face plant and then years and several generations of close to zero improvement in accuracy and dependability was just icing on the cake.

Not to mention the disdain for the Canadian market that the owner showed.

I want these rifles to work so bad, just like the domestic garbage 180's some of you deal with.

I'll wait for our intrepid "guinea pigs" to rack up the round count before I plonk down. Here's to hoping...

I agree. Same over here. More diversity does not hurt on the gun market. And in 7.62x39mm is really cool. With their initial batches and bad reputation they got, it will take some time to convince the market these new rifles are gtg. And I hope the final version is going to be a hit among shooting sport enthusiast. They had enough time now to figure out how to fix them and with the one I played with it seemed they did...

Are you paid by M+M in some way? You certainly seem to be enthusiastic about the changes. If not, great. If so, then you should really be clearly disclosing it.

Feel free to tell them to send me a free rifle and I'll happily do another review thread for my fellow Canadians. Hopefully it'll go smoother than my last one. I still really WANT to like this rifle... but I have my doubts.

Same boat on this one. I want one because x39, and not an SKS. But my SKS works... this, I will wait and see, AGAIN!

I wish. I wanted the initial one to be a big success and was disappointed it did not work out properly. Then came years of me hoping for an improved version until this year... I had big doubts about it but seeing this rifle run makes me super excited. I like the cartridge and a rifle that can be properly modified with accessories. Unlike the T81 which kinda lacks rails etc...

Yea, I just hate it when a basic rifle just works and works and works.

Well, their first imports suffered from being bent. Not that hot either. Guess every new gun that enters the Canadian market has to go through a phase of issues before being addressed by the manufacturer. And the lack of aftermarket products etc on the Type 81 isn't that great either.

Technically they weren't bent, the barrels just weren't as aligned with the receiver as we would like them to be. They still worked perfectly fine since the iron sights weren't part of the receiver The complications came in when we all wanted optics mounted on the receiver.

From what I have heard and seen their Gen 1s weren't great with bent barrels - whether it affects accuracy or not (online opinions divided on it, I have never shot one with a bent barrel). However, I stand by my assumption that usually 1st Gen weapons have issues. Current Type 81s aren't bad option at all, considering their price point...

So I hope this newest Gen M10X follows that pattern and is worth our time and money.

This sounds like a pure marketing pitch. If it just happens to be your honest personal opinion, sorry to say, but you managed to emulate a generic youtube gun ad video.

M+M are making this or close to this design for like 10 years at least. All this time they had issues. They don't make anything else. But now suddenly in 2023 they figured it out with a couple of springs and a grooved pistol grip? Highly unlikely.

If I had to bet on a gas gun with a questionable quality and proprietary design, I would rather go BLC or Crusader Arms just because they are this side of the border and you can actually hope to get parts and warranty work.

I think everyone wants these rifles to run great (as the concept is awesome) but there are so many terrible reviews out of the earlier gens that I don't see many people (including myself) being willing to guinea-pig these. They should really get a bunch of this latest gen into the hands of respected testers to dispel people's reservations about them.

If they send me a free gun I'll happily test it with my own ammo, and provide a thousand-round review. I'm definitely not paying for another of their rifles out of my own pocket though.

Yup, I'd test one as well but I'm not gonna guinea pig a $2200ish rifle with almost only terrible reviews.
