Yeah, I get why a company like Wanstall's wouldn't want to post private e-mails. But it unfortunately leaves the door open a little that they had something to do with the F-up.

I'm pulling' for Wanstall's. They seem on the up & up. I'm also pulling' for M+M to take a smack down because they are more than a little questionable.

Not interested in the drama, just the full truth.

In a word, no.

Wanstall's probably went with a ballpark price based on their experience, some soft commitments from Mickey Mouse Inc.

Mickey Mouse Inc decided that they weren't selling enough guns in the United States, because the gun is a much harder sell stateside, probably because they can get $600 AK-47's. With new AK pattern rifle developments, like the inclusion of an optics rail on newer AK models, even though the Mickey Mouse gun is probably a good product, the price represents a barrier to entry. So, what a company looks to do is lower the price as much as possible for stateside sales, BUT, if they sell at a loss then they need to makeup the shortfall somehow. That "somehow" is called Canadian gun buyers. So, in order to lower their price and make it compete with AK pattern rifles, their solution is to charge you more so that they can sell them cheaper stateside.

If you buy it, you're just helping Americans get better guns cheaper. I like Americans plenty, but they have enough options, and if Mickey Mouse is going to practice business in this fashion... well... thanks, but no thanks. Find yourselves a greater fool than I.

Respectfully disagree regarding price.

They were $1550 msrp a year ago.

Although I agree with Hitzy MSRP means nothing ...

I do see Cdn dealers taking advantage of the NS msrp and NOT offering it for $500+ below like their American counterparts are doing.

I see it going for $1999.99.

So maybe the dealers need some finger pointing, especially since CanAm pointed out when it crosses border 11% excise tax is removed.

I think if Wanstalls could have got a reasonable price out of NS they would have kept the pre-order rolling even at a minimal loss. I don't think NS dealer pricing is all that great...maybe 10-15%?

That's not exactly how it works with the 11% excise. The exporter doesn't just get the 11% back. The manufacturer must apply for the refund and they receive the money. Don't fool yourself and think that every gun that comes out of the USA should be 11% cheaper and somebody else is taking that money lol


FYI - I cannot explain things further her for "reasons" but I have been led to believe from industry members m+m had or has no capital to build these rifles. Whatever transpired between them and wanstalls or Canada Ammo I cannot say but they wanted a partner to invest a lot of money to finance production, not just a Canadian dealer to retail the guns. M+M is a very small operation.

Gun sales in the USA aren't great. There's a ton of product on the market. I can't see this gun selling very well stateside due to pricing and competition from other proven designs


Also why elevate this to the conspiracy level of the moon landings. M+M likely went with the highest or more lucrative contract. Don't like how it went down? Don't buy the gun

This whole M+M discussion and theories are really getting old and bashed to death.
Bottom line is we Cdn's got f**ked again on the NR tax and the greed of certain companies both American and Canadian.
They kept us from enjoying what might have been a great NR rifle at a reasonable cost .

I'm sure there will be another "next best" just around the corner.
I know for a fact I personally won't give Mikey Mouse a penny of my money.
