M10x FAILURES

Too bad they botched it.
I liked the idea of the Kalashnikov action in a modern chassis.
Just another modern gun design boondoggle.
Makes me wonder about back in the day, say 50 60 years ago if manufacturers would release horrible designs that were never spoken of again and are now lost to time lol

Absolutely they did! The 1800's in particular was a boom time for gun makers trying to "tame the west". They came out with all kinds of crazy concepts, like the revolving flint cap rifle. No one stopped to think that the blast coming from the wheel is right by your hand lol

Thanks for the post. I dont mean to sound like a smart ass but I have a question. This isn't the first time ove heard expressed the desire for a rifle to run AK mags. Other than sks d type rifles nothing in canada takes them except the m10x as far as I know. Not common anyway.

Vz 58 mags are cheap, plentiful and I've never had a malfunction with one. What is it about AK mags that everyone wants a rifle that accepts them? The only thing I have heard compared to the vz mags is they dont have the Bolt hold open ridge along the back so they are more comfortable to handle. I'd much rather have a bho. The VZ IS the superior rifle imo.

Exactly my thoughts as well, the only thing going for the AK mags is that they are slimmer and if they are steel, the steel is easier to fix with a weld compared to the Aluminum VZ ones.

Im glad the Chinese went with a proprietary mag for the Type 81, just because it provided the rifle with a last round hold open feature.

commonest 7.62x39 mags. that's it. VZ58 is really superior in many senses otherwise. I also prefer ak because was training with it and safety is better on it. but since we have no ak here.... world mags commonality is the only factor left
there are also some xcrs acrs that u can get from irunguns and 305a that will accept ak mags
having ak mag rifle in canada is about red rifle enthusiasm, nothing to do with accuracy, but rather with reĺiability , and m10x clearly fails the latter.
as to vz58, it is also a must for red enthusiast.

Purpose of the VZ 58, was CZ didn't want the AK, and wanted to be different.

I think Ak at that time was having some issues Chech tried to improve some such as stampednreceiver, fte with narrow ejection port, no bho, mags without accommodation of prone shooting position etc. In USSR people thought that Chech are just stubborn, but that is a minor factor, Chech had their own firearm industry school tradition, so they were not happy with ak from the engineering ideas point of view primarily. this is my speculation imho
and they mostly improved most problems but created others, smaller ones, safety is too small, hand grip is too small, the barrel is less supported and with 2000 rounds in a row may drop a bit more than ak, no cleaning kit on board, proprietary mags, not as spread and available as ak etc.
ak won the World because it is not that inferior compared to VZ58, it started in 1947 as mass production, USSR delivered it for free around the world, it was really cheaper in manufacturing and maybe easier in manufacturing etc

Commonest mags everywhere except here in kanada. Here, the vz58 is king.

What a piece of garbage. We are not asking 3 moa but this is just ...

I mean, if i spent $1800 bucks on it... considering the front heavyness, the fancy trigger, the railed upper, the heavy profile barrel....id be honestly expecting 2moa or better with good factory ammo like Hornady or S&B.

If you could get your money back, would you rather buy XCR after this experience or "AK magazines" are such a fundamental requirement for you?

well, a close ak derivative was my collection theme
xcr and simmilar ar derivatives with appropriate side charging handle and ak mags and 7.62x39 or just 7.62x39 with xcr mags or even 5.56 would be next things to consider.

what really attracts me in ARs M series is top is one piece
I am quite happy with AK safety, mag release and charging handle, otherwise

I already have VZ58, T81, SkS kd and happy with those, though t81 accuracy is the worst from these three
I specifically didnt go for m305a as it is not ak relative

money back.... does gotenda provides money back? they are not , they sent me to a place that is not even sure if they cover m10x under warranty

Anyone else tired of these garbage products flooding our market? I mean at this point you woulda been better with an sks

No, I would buy it in spite of the negatives but at a lower price, everything at a certain price. As long as it doesn't blow up.

I recall cz858 gremlin days, people were dumping them, I bot one for $450, fixed it with a tab and it was my favorite vz58. sold it early this year due to c71

The fix for your handle coming off is to place a rubber o ring behind it so you can not push the release in until you remove the o ring.
simple fix.

yes, I already did that, but it took me 1 hour to find the charging handle on the range
Initially, when I finally located it, I used condom from my car, at home I changed it to an O-ring.
anyhow, I think fixing 2000$ rifle with rubber o-ring is just crazy

It's funny you say that. SKS was my first semi auto carbine rifle. Years ago. I started chasing the new NR semi autos as they came out slowly. Sold my trusty old Russian and started with the AR180B. Great gun; crazy expensive and no spare parts. Then the XCR, decent gun; over 3k back then, very bad balance and terrible accuracy. T97, good solid design; nothing but feeding problems. Absolute jam o magic. They bastardized the mag release and really mucked it up converting it to our market laws and 5.56mm. Tried the Tavor still on the bullpup bug, insanely expensive and terrible terrible accuracy. Even for a semi auto blaster. Good reliability.
I had a new 582 series mini14. Rear sight was the worst design I've ever seen on a rifle. It was very reliable, decent price and far more accurate than it gets credit for. One of the first ones I was truly impressed with price to value ratio. WK180C.....sold the mini to buy it. Had a first run example. Had every single problem it could possibly have. Feeding, chamber, inside receiver getting chewed away, trigger was atrocious, horrible customer service...just sh*t.

After all that I went back on the EE and picked up a mint Chinese SKS. Put a set of tech sights on it and a home trigger job and I realized after all that money and time wasted on NR f*ckery, my old friend was always the SKS.
I still think bang for buck it's the best NR semi auto in the country by a mile and a half.
After all that and a few more in between it was the two rifles that have the biggest hater fan base that impressed me the most by far, SKS and the mini 14.

that's why I have two in wood. Sks is far superior than anything on the market for both: price+reliability +accuracy. it is the one I am grabbing to run to the forest

Good post.
I had a good laugh while reading it, because I've gone though much of the same.

I've bought (and sold) some really expensive guns that turned out to be a huge letdown.

My $200 SKS and $700 AR-15 are by far the best guns I've ever owned. LOL.
