Some people here have access to the frt.

Every gun the lab sees gets an frt. Air guns, antiques, handguns, full autos, etc etc. Some are simple entries to make like airguns, AR15s and full autos and handguns.

Semi auto military derived rifles take the longest.

But entries are made often to the system.

Well we are all waiting for the entry to be published. If 5 importers import the same exact gun, one entry is made with each importer listed in the importer section of that frt entry.

Access to the frt means access to published entries. Not inside knowledge of stuff actually happening inside the lab like Canada post delivery dates of samples or water cooler chat.
 
I think I see.... there's only info when the frt has been established and published!!!! No list of firearms waiting for an frt with other pertinent info.

There will be only one parent FRT entry for a gun matching the same make/model/manufacturer/action. Different barrel lengths and calibres go under the same parent (main) FRT entry as child entries.

If 10 importers import that same gun, they get listed under that same parent entry as importers.

If the parent specifications change, a new FRT parent entry will be added to the FRT.

An FRT number is assigned to any gun that arrives at the lab for classification. An FRT report gets published under that number once classification is complete, and that report is what those with FRT access can see.

There is no way to see what is pending at the lab via the FRT database.... that other list that floated around here was a FOI request.

Unfortunately this is the same "lab" that very scientifically banned the Mossberg Blaze 47 as an "AK Variant" even though it's literally nothing but a non-restricted Mossberg Blaze in a plastic chassis with some ak-esque wood furniture. Pure genius.

I have a bit of ammo coming that would fit nicely in this m10!!!!!! Come on canam crack the whip and get that lab cooking on this..
 
Well the K&M m17 was just given an frt so the lab is doing something!!!!! Hopefully it won't take 4years to approve the m10.
If so...... 3 more years to go boooooo!!!
Or maybe a few more months.
 
This classification should really take 30 minutes tops, depending on typing speed of staff.
Automatic? No, ok so not prohibited.
Pistol? No.
Barrel not less than 16"? No, ok so it's Not Restricted.
Done.

The M10X is a crossover hybrid platform. Yes it shoots 7.62x39, but that's about as close to an AK as it gets... however it utilizes half the components of a standard AK variant. It comes stock with a 4.2lb trigger and a 5-8x24 thread pitch. Low recoil gas piston system with Selectable high/low settings. Ambidextrous selector switch and charging handle.

Is it full auto?
Is it easily converted to full auto?
Is it converted from a full auto designed receiver?
Is it a named prohibited or restricted firearm?
Is is a variant of a named prohibited or restricted firearm?
Is it a handgun either by design or by modification?

If it passes the above. Then it is either restricted or non restricted based on barrel length and overall length.

Classification shouldn't exist. It's either a gun or its not. The person possessing either is prohibited or isn't. But that would be too simple.
