Where the 30 round mags for a different reason than the 20 rounder, earlier or newer? What is there story? I have the 30, love it but heard they tend to jam. Some insight would be appreciated.

My new Norc, 30(5) round mag, R33 cheek peice, Marstar Mount, Baush and Laumb 6x24x40 optics, Leupold rings, chu wood stock, cleaned up and painted. By far my favorite.

It kinda looks weird.....seems to be outta proportion for the M-14....but thats probably because we're so use to the 20 round mag....hmmm....I don't think I like it.....

haha, nice burn.

But I agree, 30's don't look quite right on the gun and would be difficult to shoot from the bench with (the mag would be taller than a bipod).

I don't see how a 30(5) would have jamming issues if you LEAVE it pinned at 5 (of course un-pinning it isn't an option).

I think the bullet hole in my roof rack says something, too. And ask Grizz Axxemann about a hole in icehunter's pickup truck bed rail....

If it could actually hold 30 rounds I would be impressed...

I have heard some people mention the 30 rounders have feeding issues. Maybe on AR15.com...

It seems to me that the only point in having a larger M14 mag in Canada is to make it faster/easier to get the M14 mag out of the chamber (The little 5/5 rounders are a bit tedious at times). 10/5 works just fine (if you can find them), anything more than that is just dead weight.

first, the 30 is a recent invention to a non-existant problem coming out of the idea that an m-14 was a squad weapon - read lmg in the same vein as the bren, bar, and c2- the germans got it right in the mg34-42 with a belt feed and interchangable barrel- the m1919a4 or a6 is also very close - second- most, if not all , of the input i've gotten from our brothers south of the border is these things have problems locking in, and the followers jam about the 20 round gone mark, and then you have to take it apart to clear it- almost like there's a bulge or something in the mag body on the inside- and it's clumsy compared to the 20- it may be a great conversation piece, but it's not practial

Looks good spray&pray, don't forget to bring it out to the Medicine Hat annual 3 Gun match in June. That should give it a workout. You'll probably need at least 4-5 mags though. Check around there are guys on the board here from Medicine Hat that won't mind lending you a few.

I've put 30rds into my 30 rounder down south with no probs.
The mag can actualy hold 31rds but I wouldn't recommend it as it won't fit when inserting the mag into the rifle.
