Does anyone in canada carry laminated birch stock for the norinco M14. I know you can buy them in the states but would they ship it to canada? Any information would be much appreciated:)

Nice! Thanks 4 the link scrubfox!

Anyone have other pics of the laminate and/or walnut stocks on their M14 rifle?

Cheers

I just ordered a brown laminated stock from Wenig, great service and I can't wait for it to arrive. (2-3 weeks for delivery)

Here is exactly what I ordered;
--> Brown Laminated M1A Scope Stock with laminated handguard
--> Hand fitted to the shop gun
--> 1/2 inch recoil pad, fitted to stock, LOP 13 and 1/4 inches to match factory LOP.

SOO EXCITED! Thanks again for the link Scrubfox!!!

Cheers

How much is that laminated M14 stock?

$200 US Dollars. That's for the "basic" stock, add some bucks for the handfitting and recoil pad installed. So, if your "handy" your stock is $200, if your not (like me) then your into more $. Still, a nice stock and I can't wait to get it!

I should say, that I went this route for one main reason... The price of the USGI stocks has gotten "out of hand", a stock that I used to pay $19 for (and I bought several), now sells for more than $150, even more when some work is done to them. I know, I know, the market determines the price... I chose to vote with my pocketbook and I voted NEW LAMINATE...

Hey Jay, I have been eyeballing those stocks as well, but I have been reluctant because they do not allow for the interior metal interface frame.

How do they lock-down on the rifle without it? How about accuracy and consistency as well? I'm reluctant to spend $200+ on a fine stock, if its going to be eye-candy only.

Best post of 2008... Only question I have is that stock looks like its not finished? or is it a matte clear coat?

You just saved me a tone of work I was going to make one of these for my rifle... I got a spare norinco stock and cut a blank...

Hey Guys;

I don't have any info on the stock, wrt the interior metal interface... I will post a review and pics when I get the thing in my hands. Not sure what I am going to refinish it with...

I just spoke to Wenig on the phone.
Their stocks have "no stock liner" as the stock is designed to fit tightly onto the gun, whereas the original military gun stocks were oversized and they relied on the stock liner to secure the gun tightly to the stock.

They charge $150 for "hand fitting" the stock and the hand guard to a shop gun. If you have never fitted a stock to a rifle, they recommend hand fitting as the learning experiance of fitting the stock can be quite unpleasant.

Will wait for Jay to get his and see if he has any issues with it.

I just looked at my quote from Wenig. Here is what they quoted me;
$200 Brown Laminated M1A Scope Stock
$30 Brown Laminated Handguard
$75 fitting to shop gun (I was quite specific with the lady on the phone, I DON'T have the tools or woodworking skills to fit the gun myself, so I expect it to fit when it arrives...)
$100 install and fit 1/2 inch black recoil pad
Plus shipping (unknown)
TOTAL is roughly $405 US Dollars

Now, most people would say that is pricey, I agree, BUT... I just can't justify buying a USGI surplus stock for the kind of $$$ they are selling for now!

I will let everyone know how the stock fits when it shows up, pics etc... What I am unsure of now is what to refinish the stock with when it does show up... I'll have to run that question by Wenig and see what they recommend.

So, I have a question........
what would you guys feel would be a fair price for this stock pictured below, manufactured here in canada..... A) in a nice quality walnut, with matching hanguard......... and B) In a nice two tone laminate ..... I'm curious to know. The stock would come finished with stock liner installed, front stock ferrule installed...... ready to drop in. And I guess maybe throw out some numbers for a semi finished stock for those seeking to add that finished touch for themselves. I make the M14S stock pictured below in fiberglass....... but am going to have it duplicated in walnut for one of my special m14s's.
your thoughts?

the Wenig m1a "scope stock" is similar in design......... i like mine better hehehe
