Just wondering what you guys/gals would recomend for a scope for a M14/M305 type rifle?

I'll bet you shoot that one quite a bit!!![]()

- you're not done yet- the old b-square m1a mount( the one without the stripper clip guide replacement ) with the levelling screws works for the ground off types of early m-14 chinese clones- it's not pretty, but it works as well as any of the single hole aluminum mounts- either that or maybe you can put a wedge behind the screw to take up the slop and make it square- i've been toying with putting something like a wad of permatex cold weld on there, pressing the mount into the cold weld while it's still a putty, pulling it off and letting the stuff dry to see how that works- just don't forget to put pam or something on the mount so the putty doesn't stick to the mountClead said:Damn you all! This is a 308 with all its good and bad ballistically. I was shooting the 155gr Amax and had no issue going to 1450yds in another rifle. Wind doping would have to be very good but no worse then what a Palma shooter faces.
I would say 1.5 MOA at 1000yds is most certainly possible with a tuned M305 and proper handloads. I don't think a variable over 4-14X would be necessary given that this is usually shot closer then far.

exactly what I was looking for. so based on these #'s I think a fixed 10X would be my best bet for this rifle. Any objections?
Long Range Canuck said:I guess the best scope choice would be easier if I had an Idea as to how far this rifle will accurately reach out to. Has anyone hit the 800-1000 mark with these using mil-sup. or is that pushing it?
