M14/305 scout mounts?

After almost a year, I finally have my Tac-Pac scope hitting bulls-eyes.

I had to get the first Marstar scope mount replaced because it didn't fit onto the rifle properly. Had to use a washer on the new mount though.

Then my gunsmith and I tried to get the gun zeroed. We kept trying to get the scope to align properly on the mount, but it looked and shot crooked.

At it's former best setting, it was shooting about an inch to the left of the bulls-eye with no more play in the crosshairs.

We were going to try and shim the scope rings, when my gunsmith said we should try turning the scope rings around.

The scope ring's attachment screws to the mount rail were facing left.

They are now facing to the right (same side as the cocking handle) and I'm hitting the bull as of Sunday.

I still have some play in the scope to the left and right as well. Now I'm ready for hunting season.

Hope this helps.

I have mounted the Springfield SOCOM forward mount on my Norinco Barrel and it seems to be a little off? (Forward) Are the NORINCO barrels the same as the USGI barrels?

I'm fairly sure

I had trouble with my Leepers mount. Scope was adjusted to the max and the zero was an inch away. Still got a deer with it though 8) Its off right now, waiting for a 3200 and its going to be bedded on when I get it straight.

If you're mounting a scout scope then the only option that I know of is the Springfield scout mount, Wolverine carries them. If your mounting an Aimpoint, Eotech or anything else that only uses one point, than the Rooster mount will work just fine.

Anyone tried this http://www.amegaranges.com/

But they say it only fits "US Milspec" M1A / M14 barrels ... :?

This is from their FAQ:

"# What rifles will it fit? ONLY four models are offered.

* Ruger Mini-14® (fits the Standard Model, Ranch Rifle, Mini-14/5TM, or AC556. The older "GB" model with side-mounted front sling swivel is a special order. Call us about it.)
* Ruger Mini-30®
* M1-Garand Rifle (Standard or Tanker models) with mil-spec barrels.
* M14/M1A Rifle (Standard or Scout Models) with US mil-spec standard weight barrels. No heavy barrels or Chinese barrels."

Is the outer diameter different on the chinese barrels?

I've dropped 'rincs into 3 Sage's using the Sage supplied op-rod guide which is torqued into place. If the Amegarange system has smaller tolerances that's OK. But I don't think so. Only one way to find out, buy it and use shims where indicated.
