Hello gun nutz I have a Norinco M14 that wont load a round when it cycles..... can any one give me some tips on how to fix this

Need more info... Do you mean the bolt does not cycle at all? As in you have a bolt action M14?

Cheers
Jay

not bolt action semi-auto it fuctions like it should just wont chanber a round when it slides back and forth

Can you post pics? How do the rounds sit in the magazine? Does the mag seat fully into the magwell & click into place?

Cheers
Jay

the mag locks in and clicks the bolt remains open when the mag is installed im totally confused sorry i dont have pics

DON'T mess with ammo in that mag unless you are at the range or a safe place to discharge the gun!

Do you have dummy rounds? So you can safely test function?

And, the bolt should lock back when the mag is empty... That's normal.

Proper operation requires you to insert the loaded mag (dummy rounds if needed) into the gun, pull back the op rod & LET GO. The spring pressure pushes the bolt forward, stripping a round out of the mag & chambering it...

Cheers
Jay

yes i know its spoose to stay open on a empty mag thats whats weird to me if it stays open it should grab a round right

Hmmm, just musing and trying to visualize your problem.

In what position is the gas cylinder valve spindle? It should be up and down, not parallel to the barrel.

This screw is located just forward of the forestock and is slot headed.

HTH

Is the gas regulator supposed to be perfectly perpendicular to the bore? i.e. 90 degrees? Mine came from the factory pretty close to 90 degrees, maybe 85 degrees. Should I take a screw driver and rotate it all the way to 90 or just leave as is?

Try different ammo before anything else.
I'm going to guess you're having trouble with the Norc ammo?
None of mine cycle reliably with it without the odd short stroke(ejects empty case but won't pick up another round). Works perfect with all others.
It did help when I changed the spring guide but try different ammo before you stress out over it.

Always treat an empty "click" like a live round though. Wait a minute with it pointed safely before you check the chamber for a round.

Without pics, this is hard to diagnose over the Internet, but....

It sounds to me like you may have a magazine problem, in that the magazine spring isn't pushing the rounds up either high enough or fast enough for the bolt to catch the case as it moves forward into battery.

It could also be that the bolt isn't moving far enough back to pick up the fresh round, but it is moving far enough back to eject the empty. In that case, you need to read the stickies on top of the forum dealing with lubricating the M14 platform.

Also, is the screw on the right side by the gas piston nut fully vertical? This screw controls how much gas goes in the cylinder to move the operating rod, and it needs to be fully vertical for maximum gas pressure in the gas cylinder.

I'm sure one of the M14 gurus like Hungry or 45ACPKING will chime in shortly.....
