"...M14 Ambi Mag Release..." The mag release on an M305/M1A/M14 is ambidextrous out of the box. Mind you, having a bigger one isn't a bad idea for cold weather shooting.

So... will it work with my polytech m14?

If it's really USGI spec and you have a polytech trigger housing, it will fit, but it will be REALLY sloppy and will feel like crap.

If you have a UGI housing or one from 762mmfirearms or springfield armory inc. housing, it will drop right in.

I'm disappointed to hear it's GI spec. Was for sure hoping it would be Chinese/metric spec.

Here's a couple pics of the NEA mag release on my Norinco. It fits well, has a very nice finish and is very easy to get hold of.

How did you mount the sling adaptor? backplate, and 2 bolts bedded into the stock?

I filled the hollow-ish area in the stock behind the swivel with some JB Weld, drilled two holes through it, and put nuts/washers on the swivel bolts. Easy-peasy. Cost $0.25 worth of JB Weld and swivel parts from a buddy's junk box.

Steve:

If it fits tight with no slop in a chinese housing, it's not USGI spec. The GI spec is about a 3mm pin hole (actually the closest imperial equivalent - I forget which one, maybe 3/32"?). The Norinco pin hole is 4mm.

I rather suspect the NEA unit is actually Chinese spec (a good thing) and is really 4mm. I rather doubt they would design and built a mag catch in Canada that did not fit the Norinco properly.
