Not without re-threading the M14; That brake has no provision for reusing the castle nut. If you rethread it to 1/2x28, make sure it's bored out for a .30cal bullet. The 80-5M1 (.30cal 5M1 Brake) is 1/2x36... not all that common.
i've installed several Phantom flash hiders on cut down , 1/2 x 28 threaded m14 barrels.
the flash hiders were for the AR .223/.556 but had sufficient chamber diameter in the flash hider that no reaming was necessary. I have also installed several PWS flash hiders on the 1/2x28 and found them to not require reaming either. "plenty" of room in both from the crown forward.
cool...... there are a couple canadian outfits making these as we speak i think. NEA and possibly dlask..... hopefully we can order them soon. A product like this would sell like fricken crazy and totally open up the options for what to hang on the end of your barrel, be it 18.5 or 22" with the standard castlenut retaining features.
