M14 at dark intnl

I wouldn't.

I have had Marstar flub my order twice now. Not to rag on the guys there, they have to look after their big customers first I suppose. What galls me is that they took my order twice, told me it was in the works and that every thing was fine...and then didn't follow through with shipment or billing. I wasn't going to give them another six months to do the same thing to me again, so I said to hell with Marstar, and sadly the M14 Norc as well. I went in a totally different direction and ended up with a Heckler and Koch SL8.
.

That's quite the jump! (from 400$ to 2400$) Sorry to hear about that bad experience. Well, I hope you're enjoying the HK.

As for demand & supply, it would be pretty hard for anyone to compete with the chinese on this one it appears. It's a solid rifle. Can't really compare the Norc market to the SA market though... big price difference.

I would have preferred to go with the M14 like you fellows did, but at the time I didn't know about Dark Int'l...and the guys at Wolverine can process an order when they get one so ya go with what works I guess.

Used M14s are commanding top dollar here...and if you see one you better be quick with the cheque book or it will be gone.

I cannot believe that with the market for these things...that the only choices are Norc and Springfield. We need another manufacturer to jump in and help fill the demand.

Same experience here. A long time ago I tried ordering a case of 303B surplus ammo as advertised, it was never in stock, I never got it, never got billed for it either though. Then I tried ordering some parts over the phone, two weeks later they called and asked if I ordered something, said they couldn't read the order(?). Finally I tried ordering some more stuff, email this time, easier to read. Followed up email 4 days later with a phone call to confirm they got the order. They couldn't find it. Re-ordered stuff during phone call. Two weeks later got my stuff, four weeks later got same stuff again. I definitely wouldn't ever order a firearm from them.

Don't mean to hijack the thread and this is not meant as Marstar bashing, just honest feedback relating to my personal dealing with them. I have never dealt with Dark, therefore I can't say how they are. If I was looking for a M-14S and Dark has them, I'll try anyone three times.

I have heard that H&K is no longer dealing with Canada. As they have no real market hear. So all civilian sales are going to cease... It is going to suck for parts....

Enfielder, I like to support the gun shops and Marstar is now on my chit list. I personally tell my customers when their orders go sideways, even when I know it will make them mad. I also do what is required to make it right after the fact. It is part of being professional. I will forgive one mistake, but not two.

If I knew who to talk to I would suggest to Norinco that they find a new rep in Canada. I don't like talking about a dealer that way, especially as how they are an important member of our fraternity...but hell's bells, crappy service should not be rewarded. When I get around to buying a Norc it will come from Dark or one of you guys on the forum. Hassles like that I don't need.

Must be really difficult for company as bad as Marstar to stay in business... I've made 18 orders from Marstar in past 5 years... Had a complaint or two.. Things that were not as advertised but they honored there guarantee.. Biggest complaint is when you order something and put a few things on top to "fill out the order" and don't get the thing you were really ordering.. That's happened once or twice.. But on the big stuff I've not had any problems... Got 3 of the M14's last time.. It took a while but i was waaay down the list.. They kept telling me they were coming and I wasn't so sure....

I've dealt with Marstar quite a bit. I usually call to confirm my order the next day. As I have with my M14 today; I didn't want to have any screw ups and not get one.

They are super busy and most people I speak to at Marstar sound run off their feet but helpful.

I got the wrong thing from them one time (slight difference), over billed for one thing another time (just a bit), firearms take a loooong time to get, but when push comes to shove they have very competitive prices and have everything (just about).

I like them and I've purchased a LOT of stuff from them. Its fare to say that they get more of my money than any single other dealer.

I ordered from Dark and can't wait. Rodger seems like a great guy, and it $500 all in shipped to BC with three mags, sling, cleaning kit. Seems like the same price as Marstar but with more stuff. Can't comment on Marstar service. I'll let you know how it works out and then give a final review of Dark. If they're as good as they seem to be, they'll get all my orders...many orders...

come on guys....after shipping (65dollars) and GST, it comes at 540CnD...
I will pass.......

Was 500 to my door in VCR, are you living at the top of Ellesmere Island?

I purchased from Rodger at Dark Int'nl before. Top notch service, great products, good prices and fast shipping. Wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again or recommend him to others. When you consider the fact that you're getting a new M-14, 2 X 5/5 mags, 1 X 5/20 mag, plus the cleaning kits, etc...& sling - plus the size of his operation compared to Marstar, - his prices are very competitive. For the sake of $40.00 bucks some guys will constantly ##### and moan...gotta' shake my head sometimes!

zorak: did they say how long its gonna take to get it to your hot sweaty hands?

Too true X-man.

Locally I shop almost exclusively at P&D. Wholesale Sports is often cheaper...but at P&D, they have EVERYTHING a gunnie could possibly want. And their staff know their stuff. 25 years in this sport has taught me (the hard way) that good service, like a good rifle, is worth what you pay for it.

Hey Guys,

I personally picked up my M14s yesterday from Rodger for $503.00. Rodger did seem like a stand up kinda guy and the rifle seems to be in good shape. Came with the 3 mags, clean'n kit and sling as advertised. If you still want one I certainly would recommend calling Dark and pick'n it up...especially now that Marstar's out of em. If you live in S.Ontario you can even save on ship'n...although I think I saw somebody say something about getting it ship'n included for $500 to B.C?

That was Zorak who got his for $500. He managed to get a better deal from Roger than I did. Mine will be $529 shipped to Vancouver- Roger claimed this was the standard price to the wet coast.

Did you go for a lower shipping standard or something Zorak?

Anything shipped to BC that wont fit into an envelope and has to go Canada post package rates will cost at LEAST 10 bucks, so 29 dollars shipping fors omething the weight of an M14 i would say isnt bad. I went school in Vancouver for 4 years and know all about getting stuff shipped to me and the costs. jsut my 2 cents

Just got my M304 fro Rodger this week, priced at 529.00 to BC. Good service, first time to deal with him. He is responsive to all your question and true to his words. The gun was even cleaned most of the cosmoline stuff. Good guy to deal with. I would recommend to everyone this guy.:dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:

Thanks again , Rodger.
