Okay so I'm going to put a new barrel on my DA black feather build. What I'm asking is the best and why for a threaded 18.5" option. Must be std to work with hand guard. Usgi bolt and trigger group are in rifle. I have never fired it yet and do not plan to with factory barrel. Will add new gas system at the same time. Any help would be great. User experience preferred. Thank you

Krieger, its about the only option, I think Douglas offers M14 barrels as well. I've never seen them for sale up here though.
So Krieger, that's probably all you'll get. Oh and it's a Krieger, one of the best barrel makers in North America, so it'll shoot.

From what I have read, these are made on usgi tooling. Just not mass produced, so they have a higher quality and use supperior metals. I may be wrong.

criterion is an offshott of Krieger barrels, formerly kriegers 'budget' line. these days criterion is a stand alone. not sure if it's still part of Krieger or not.
A Krieger barrel would most certainly be the 'cream' of the crop in my opinion and based on the results of my own shooting with both Krieger and criterion.
you aren't going to get a Krieger barrel in a standard profile tho, so criterion may be your only option if standard contour is what yer after.

Smith Enterprise has an excellent standard weight 18" barrel, and maybe Springfield will sell you one of their Scout barrels.

I don't know about importing them north of the border though...
