So I have my M14 build nearly complete (pictures to follow when she's finished ;) ) and I find myself with a bit of a situation. I had my forward sling mount rivet replaced with a swivel stud, only to find that when I mount my Harris "S" series bipod, it will not fit on without covering the front sling swivel.

My question is; has anyone else replaced that rivet with a swivel stud, and is there a bipod (preferably Harris) which will fit on there clearing the forward sling swivel?

Hopefully someone out there has the magical solution to my dilemma, and will make my day by saying "yeah; this bipod fits right on there! :D

Thanks for any and all help.

I like the bipod closer to the mag well, so I drilled and tapped a small steel plate which I epoxied into the stock where I wanted it. I ground out a little of the stock, and curved the plate a little. Trimmed the swivel stud so that it doesn't contact the barrel system.

Have you thought of just replacing the whole forward sling mount assembly with the Sadlak QD post assembly?

Since the USGI stock I bought on the EE didn't have the front sling mount on it, this is the route I went, and it works pretty well. You can simply remove your sling from the Harris bipod and attach it directly to the Sadlak post, if you happen to want to remove the bipod for any given time.

fn rob- you'd best REVERSE that sling before the gunny catches you- the clip goes on the AFT sling swivel
