M14 Bolt Dissasembly Instructions?

Sgt Stiker: Yeah, I remember that, but I gave it up when I bought a 6" vise that is now capable of using the method outlined by Rifledude. Life is good !

I forgot to mention... I don't even own an M1 Garand or an M14..... yuk yuk yuk yuk

From now on I will read all the posts on a subject before trying something, not just the one that directs me to the info to take the thing apart!

90 minutes and a great deal of swearing later I got it back together. Used a cut case, the last half inch 'blutacked' onto a 4 inch C clamp. Screwed in all into place before replacing the clip with a slight press of a pair of pliers.

Of course before doing this I spent 85 minutes trying all manner of different ways to try to get to to go together, with pins and springs flying around the room. Come to think of it most of the 85 minutes was spent on my hands and knees looking for parts!

Can safely say that the cleaning of the bolt will only be on a 'needs must' basis from now on.

The biggest problem here is that the Chinese use a longer ejector spring than USGI . If you replace the ejector spring with the shorter length it will be so much easier . Sarco and many vendors here in the U.S. sell these ejector springs .

M-14 bolt cleaning

I've been trying to warn all of you in previous posts.... don't bother trying to pull your Norc M14 bolt apart. Save yourself the grief and just blast the firing pin hole with 'Gunk Out' or Aerosol Brake Cleaner...

Well now you have a great story to tell others.

X 2. Quick and easy. Spray in brake cleaner, blow it out with compressed air, shake the bolt to make sure you can hear the firing pin rattling. Done!
