M14 Broken Bolt - Need Replacment

You can't legally import a bolt from the US without special paperwork.
And Winz is correct, a bolt won't correct indexing.

I'm assuming that when the barrel is unscrewed to index it, that the headspace will be slightly longer than before.

You might be in a tough situation.

Since your barrel is over indexed, theory would suggest that unscrewing it slightly would increase headspace. Usually that is not the case. The slight changes in degrees to index a barrel correctly will not have a great impact on the axis along the bore to adjust headspace.

The other situation you must verify is the shoulder of the barrel because it was over index. This may suggest that the shoulder of the barrel is over cut slightly.

Hmmm, you don't say. I never knew that.

So how would one go about veryfying the barrel shoulder? And if it is a problem, is a replacement barrel the only option?

The headspace issue can and will be affected by rotation of the barrel. It may be minimal however.
The barrel will need to be removed, the shoulder either roll swaged on a lathe or, if you want to P.M. Me, I'll explain how it can be done on the bench. It's really not that difficult.
The actual steel at the shoulder is quite soft when compared to hardness qualities at other locations.
My advice is to deal with your barrel first, then see where things are at with headspace before you burn cash on a bolt.

I don't currently own a bench, but if you've got a link to how this can be done that could be great.

Otherwise I'll have to wait for an M-14 clinic here or just mail it out to you if I'm too busy with work.

Thanks!

Yer in the lower mainland?
I'll be down in a couple weeks and will have my tools set up at Tony's shop in surrey for a couple days. Keep in touch :D
