Hi eveybody,

I am a new kid here - meaning that I am here to learn.

Question : By some stroke of luck, is there someone who would happen to know where I could find - that is buy - one GENUINE USGI M14 castle nut wrench (pliers) ?
Commercial wrenches are easy to get and their quality is, let's say, nothing to write home about.

TIA

Super Heavy Duty Castle Nut Pliers For Springfield M1A

Not Genuine USGI issue per say, but I am more than happy with the set I purchased.

GNMONTEY,

Thanks for your very - but very - prompt response.
Now, that is a true "heavy duty" M14 castle nut wrench. It should do the job for sure ! No, it has to ...
I want one and I will get it.
I am sending you a PM also - for something else.

I have the set from Brownells, they certainly wouldn't be Snap-On quality but they have worked for over a dozen M14Ss so far and no signs of wear.

I made my own and they work great. Took me about fifteen minutes. Big square jawed vice grips, $5 at the local hardware store, cutting wheel on my dremel, off came all the material that didn't look like a castle nut wrench (old joke about a sculptor, remove everything that doesn't look like a horse, surely you've heard it). I'll post up a pic if I get a chance at some point.

Full circle now !

I just received my set of Super Heavy Duty M1A castle nut pliers a couple of days ago - after taking the advice of GNMONTEY, except that I bought them directly from AR Specialties LLC, in Jackson, MO - blackh2@att.net.
The name of the gentleman who owns the business is Chris Buchheit.

Quality ? Well, I think that these Super Heavy Duty M1A castle nut pliers could "drop the gloves" against any and all non welded castle nut stupid enough to resist ! Very well made and very rugged. Worth it ? Oh yes !

Thank you, GNMONTEY.

Petrock,

The answer to your question : 32.00$ U.S.
Expensive ? Sure.
Good tools are often (always ?) expensive.
I suppose that it could be possible to break that set of pliers but it would take a verrry stubborn castle nut - and a pretty strong hand too.
