Hey there , ive been looking around and noticed alot of people choose many different ways of getting a cheek riser on their rifle.

My question is two parts , how do people find the difference between the plastic 2 bolt design that is permanently attached and the lace on kind .

Does the kind that bolts into the stock of the rifle still allow you to keep the space that holds the tools in the butt of the rifle ?

Where do people normally find the lace on kind if i decide i dont want the plastic bolt on kind .

And as far as getting a different stock goes , i notice alot of the sponsors dont have them listed on their sites . Are these custom orders or do they have to be ordered from the states?

I have this one on my M1A and I love it.

The advantage for me of a lace on type is that if I want to take off my scope and use the iron sights I don't have any holes in my stock.

I found that lacing it the way the picture shows allows the rest to move side to side, so I tied the loose ends of the string to the rear sling loop and that stopped it from moving at all.

As for stocks, I ordered a couple from Fred's M14 Stocks about 7 years ago and had no issues. Last I heard was that this isn't an option anymore, either Fred isn't shipping to Canada or one of the governments isn't allowing the stocks in/out.

"...Fred isn't shipping to Canada..." Believe he got slapped by the U.S. government for shipping restricted for export parts without the export permit. M14 parts are such parts, including cheek rests. M1A cheek rests are not restricted.
Tacpro is in Ontario. Makes all the import/export nonsense go away.
The lace on style are also screwed in place. The plastic bolt on type is just that. Requires drilling the stock.

Pacific canvass makes an M1 lace on cheekpad I would imagine its the same as an M14 pad. When I put on a leather cheek pad I soak it in warm water and mold it to the stock. Then let it dry on the stock. Remove it, oil it and then put it back on the stock
