Hungry here: But a free M14 would ruin my karma. What would I do with an M14 ? I'm competing with AR's... and my sniper rig: M700 VSF. And I hunt earthpigs with an M700 .223 LTR Wannabe. The M14 would just sit in the safe.

It was an off-the-cuff joke, I probably shouldn't have said it as it isn't my place to comment on any company like that even in jest But I am serious when I say thank you for all the information you've provided

The reason I'm advocating the curved tip version is because you can grease your hammer hooks from OUTSIDE the receiver and not have to disassemble your trigger group from the rifle for lubrication. You see, (NRA High Power Competition hat ON) when my Douglas barreled (HVY NM profile) was bedded into my McMillan (fat bastard) stock, we only disassembled our 'sticks' once a year, in January for the annual rebuild. So the rest of the year throughout the competition season, our bedding job(s) remained intact and not compromised by repeated disassembly. Have a look at the rear mortises of your stock liner. Notice that when you remove the barreled action from the stock, the REAR receiver mortices abrade the forward edges of the bedding surface that is supposed to remain a skin-tight support for your receiver.

And that's why we keep our barreled actions IN the stock throughout the match season.

Hence the need for the curved tip syringes, which I coerced (not at gunpoint) from my dentist during my annual checkups. yuk yuk yuk
