I apologize in advance but I did search for this prior to making this thread.
Okay so I have a Polytech M14 in a Sage EBR Chassis.
Problem: It will fire but not cycle or eject so it's essentially a straight pull bolt action now :/
Prior to this I had fired about 400 rounds over a couple years and even got sub-moa groups. I replaced the following parts: Gas piston to a Ti-N one, Sadlak spring guide and shimmed the gas system - it is tight! (maybe too tight? idk) I haven't fired it since I changed the parts out.
So I was going to trade this gun to my uncle who is a smith and apparently now it will not fire semi auto. We smoothed the bolt carrier, the trigger, op-rod and a few other things. The rifle is well cleaned and lubed and we even put the factory parts back with the exception of the gas system shims we left those on.
We then tried 2 different mags, one used and one practically brand new. We could chamber a round, fire and manually eject it time after time with the used mag. We put the new mag in and went to eject a round and it wouldn't eject. Seems like the ejector isn't picking it up so we took the bolt apart and the ejector looks worn. I'm wondering if anyone else has any theories because I would like to nip this in the butt and we have done all we can think of and have narrowed it down to the ejector and next time I am at his place I will mention something about the shims if the ejector replacement doesn't work.
And yes, the gas is in the on position
Any help is much appreciated!
