Well i gotta chime in and support the doc. He did a sage build for me, fixed all the crap from another "gunsmith" that i had sent the rifle to previously. Reports were regular, he answered emails within a few days, presented options for fixes. Simply can't ask for better than that.

Top Notch all the way!

great guy

I'm hard to impress. Great gentleman, did fine job for me. Trust him 24/7 every day of the year!!! Nice guy to deal with. Any good gun fixer has alot of work, so be patient.

this is an "old" thread and there are only 3 guys left that have been waiting longer than they were expecting and all three involve the new m14sa2 stock and one had some issues with the rifle parts as well. Have had a high volume of outgoing shipping over the past few weeks with more to do this coming week and have been slow to get tracking info out. There should be no one outside of those 3 with any "delay" complaints.
it's odd though.... I had a few rifles here since APRIL of 2010.... ones in need of replacement parts that took forever to source and replace and one of those waited for the right stock to come along. None of those guys have felt the need to start threads or panic. These days I am only dealing with those folks who are not in a rush and appreciate the time it takes to get things done right. The three guys currently waiting have been pretty darn good about it and it's much appreciated. Hopefully they will find thier patience was worth it when thier product lands in thier mitts. And thanx to all those who's continued support is much appreciated ;)

Instead of complaining on here why don't you just get your gun shipped back and get on with your life. I'm pretty sure your not out any money, cause when I had my shorty done I didn't send money till the end.

I will use him again for my next build.

carsmovies: so do you mean july of 2009, or 2010 lol... Cuz "lats year" isnt that long ago.I waited for 5 monhs. if you feel the need to make negative coments about this stuff on line, then give'r, what ever makes ya feel better. It does not make anything move any faster... It most likly slows everything down, seinghow he needs to stop what he is doing and run damage control all the time. I agree on getting your gun back, if you already paid out, then get a refund, your rifle and find somone else lol.

that they do Hungry. seams like everyone gets there thong in a knot every few months. I'll admit, when I paied for my stock and did not hear from the doc, I was a little worried at first. But I used my head and got on with life. If WE WANT A GOOD M14 SMITH, how about we stop raging on him and about him. Let the man work. if you want somthing fast and cheep it wont be good. If you want somthing good and fast, it wont be cheep. If you want somthing GREAT, then wait for it lol.

First off it was July 2010 which is now about 8 months. I was initially told it would take 6 to 8 weeks. Also I paid over $1,000 for the job up front. I like the M14 but had I known it would take that long ahead of time I would have kept it the way it was and spent the money elsewhere.

I had work done by the DR ... and I love my shorty that he built ... however, I don't recall given a deadline or schedule so I didn't mind waiting a bit as I don't think I asked for one. You on the other hand did receive a deadline ... 8 months later and still no rifle isn't cool. :(

Well, your wait was 3 months longer then mine so far. Seriously tho, get a refund and your rifle, dont complain on the interweb lol. What is it you are looking for exactly? Sympathy? A LOT of people have had to wait for the doc, when the wait is over they are happy. If you are un happy and he has yet to start on your project, again, get he money back lol. If he has started and you dont wanna wait, pay for the work done, get a refun on the rest and get it finished by somne you think works at a better pace.

I was told the work was done a few weeks ago but I still don't have my rifle. Also if you read my op you'll have noticed that I wasn't actually complaining about the wait but the lack of communications. Another thing you fail to notice was that I didn't bring this thread to the top again, that was Robmcleod82.

Communication is so easy these days that there is no excuse for not sending out a quick update specially if things are taking longer then promised.

lots of updates have been sent, but i can't do it weekly with the number of customers i have.
carsmovies has every reason to be a little jaded and has actually been great about the delays. The delays aren't because i'm an ass, or lazy hehehe.

I've learned MUCH this past year with regards to finding new ways to balance the work but unfortunately this has come at the expense of delays for some folks. What causes delays some ask? sourcing parts that need replacement is a big one. With the new stocks there was a plethora of issues surrounding material compatability and reactions once the finish went down. Several guys paid for stocks months ago that were by all counts "ready for paint and clear coat". These stocks required major unforseen work due to this reaction. Three of these were the new m14sa2 and other issues with receiver fitment arose that needed to be addressed, again an unforseen kink in the process.
several folks asked for and received full refunds, the second batch of stocks, 11 prepaid orders were refunded without request in september and I have taken only two stock orders since October, turning away dozens of potential sales untill the late stocks are delivered..

Been a long road this stock making endeavor and when everything was going smooth it was so easy to quote timelines. Reality is, I never took into account the unforseen things that can arise getting any new business off the ground. I've taken away valuable lessons ove the past year or so and everyday look for ways to encorporate those lessons learned into better business practices.
some folks will for surely not want to do business with me due to threads like this but that is the price I pay for stumbling along in the learning curve. Everything I've built I owe to my many supporters and customers on CGN, and every day I will look for better ways to serve the folks that make what I do possible.

with that, maybe we should lock this up ;)
I definately don't want folks to start speaking up in my defense if it will cause arguing with those that have been affected by the delays, when in carsmovie's case, I probably don't deserve that defense, he's been waiting a long time.

yeah, guess i tend to get a bit excited. Its just dissapointing to see people complaining, thats all. He will surly enjoy the rifle once he gets it. Its hard to plan for everything Doc'...like we say at work "#### happens when ya party naked". I myself worry that if people are too hard on custom smiths, we will lose them.
