Ok, so I have a dilemma...

Do I start building an M14 EBR now, or save up and wait for Tactical Imports to bring in the FAMAE 542's.

I've owned 2 Norc M14's in the past, but don't have any at the moment.

My plan for the M14 build would likely end up costing over $2000 after all is said and done (Krieger barrel, JAE or similar stock/chassis, etc. all on Norc receiver/bolt), so the price difference will be minimal. The advantage of going the M14 route is I have something I can shoot now, and build over time as I save up for whatever parts I need.

Thoughts? I really like the looks of the FAMAE, and since I already have a Swiss, they would go well together... but I'm bad at saving up large amounts of money for a gun, as I'm tempted to get something else in the mean time... lol.

I had 2 Sage EBR's. They were cool and all but the ergonomics and functionality of purpose designed 7.62mm pistol grip rifles (FAL and G3) was 100 times better.
Save up for the 542.

I am not sure if this will help, but the ability to switch between a fast handling, balanced, CQB style rifle barrel/receiver group (BRG) with a 18.5" barrel/A2 fixed tubes/A2 carbine tubes and a DMR style 22" BRG with a full length rifle stock like a Magpul PRS is going to get a lot easier next month. Blackfeather will change the M14 platform into something more versatile than it is now. Something to think about... .

Im having the same dilemma with the choice between a LRB m25 in SAGE EBR or blackfeather (Im hoping it turns out even better than SAGE) or the 542. Either way it will be awesome and maybe in the end (i could possibly get both :D).

I am the exact same way, I have real trouble not spending money when I have it.

I have been basically thinking the same thing as well, except considering the RFB. Its just less effort to make an EBR since I have the m14 already, so I may go down that route. I am still not sure whether to get a sage stock or a m14.ca stock, really when its all said and done they will cost the same.

Buy a plain Jane Norinco M-14 now. Do minimal accuracy enhancements that won't cost a lot (stainless op rod spring guide, shim gas system, and most importantly start hand loading for it).
You can start shooting it right away and save for the unobtanium.

get both...start now with the M14 EBR...the SG 542 isn't expected until Q2 2013 so you'd have lots of time to enjoy your M14 and at the same time save money for the 542...a true GunNut would do it this way :)

I'm looking to sell an M305 in an EBR chassis. I got it from a store who got it before all the ITAR crap. It's in the EE modern military rifles section under Sage EBR M305 (I work part time specializing in coming up with clever names). I've been asked a number of times if I'm willing to sell just the chassis, which at this point I'm not. If I do decide to break it up I'm just going raise the price on the stock, whereas now it's a good price even if you've already got a Norc. PM me if interested. Chassis, mount, scope and rifle are in excellent condition, I just haven't been shooting it all that much and can use the cash (as I've already spent it on more guns!). Sorry to try hocking my crap on your thread.
