hey I'm looking to put my EoTech 553 (AKA the tall one) on my M14 just wondering what rail to use the UltiMAK or Springfield SOCOM barrel clamp mount. The gun is sitting in a M14 Doc CQB stock with a standard AR15 6 pos butt and I would like to not have to put a cheek riser so I'm looking for the lowest rail IE not the UTG one. Any input helps thanks.

I have the same stock with the UTG tri rail. I took the side rails off to save weight. I put an aimpoint on and it works perfect. The rear stock is the key. I put a magpul PRS on for its adjustability. It has a perfect cheek height and works well. If I change sights I can lower or raise the cheekpiece on the PRS. Good luck.
 
I have the same setup as you with the ICR cqb stock and the eotech, I ended up putting a VLTOR rail on mine and love it, have rail right from the rear sight down to whole length of the stock. Mount seems very secure and had held its zero extremely well so far. It depends on what you want though, if its versatility Id your better off getting the Ultimak just for the simply fact of being able to move the optic in a variety of positions. Also did not have to put a cheek riser on mine, target acquisition is extremely fast the way its set up now and feels natural.
