So I bought this HIDEOUS M14 off the exchange forum. It was painted a faggy shade of green and the flash hider was messed up.

ewwwwwwwwwww!!!

I got my gunsmith to shorten and crown the barrel to 18.5", refinish it matte black and mount/bore sight my new scope.

When I took it to the range a couple days ago it took a while to get on the paper, but with consistent adjustment I got 3 rounds flying though the bullseye at 50 meters, then at 100 meters. This baby's ready to slay some bambis!

cheers

man it was hideous. get a flash hider though!

Why?? I had 2, I just sold them. I don't want a silly flash hider, I want a compact accuracy rifle without a useless extra 4 inches of metal on the end! :D

cheers
John

At least it's not PINK! ;) :D

Yup it needs the navy sight. I enjoy packing mine in the bush without the extra length of a flash hider though, I certainly understand you wanting the same.

Where do I get a Navy front sight? Does the installation require gunsmithing?

It replaces the gas cylinder lock and is, therefore, a screw on. You might have to shim it, however, if you are going to keep your accuracy.

You might check with GG&FB as far as availability.

Oh, BTW, thank god for pictures. You said painted faggy green and I had this vision of a green painted rifle, not a green stock. Huge sigh of relief when I saw the picture and it was just the stock.
