I've been playing with my m14 clone (norinco) for quite a while and I intended to leave it as an economical build, but now I am tempted to get a tactical stock...but I like both the sage chassis and black feather. I also the "as issued" look, so I am thinking to save some money to get a LRB. That's 3 rifle I already have in mind now. No, I think I want them all!
This is crazy, please somebody tell me there is a cure for this ;)

LOL there is no cure my friend.
as long as yer havin fun....... there could be far worse things to be addicted to LOL

I felt this as well. With so many setup and optics combinations possible you can justify a few M14 with a different purpose for each one. I had this sickness for a few years. I almost cured it with these questions:

Are you a collector or a rifleman? As they say: Beware the man who only has one gun.

Will you have enough time to shoot them all? The time spent to build, setup, zero and clean three rifles is time you don't spend shooting the one you need the most.

Archangel?
Less than half the price of the black feather and saves you a cheek rest and bipod mount mod on the stock stock. And Jerry's write up sells it for me.
That gives you something tactical and saves your money for the lrb or more likely another Norc with usgi wood.
So it'll stop after you spend the equivalent of a small car, then you'll likely move into precision and fondly remember the days where your m14 obsession was cheap.

I have an M305 tanker and spend all kinds of money on it... I know the wife has an idea that gun parts cost fare money but I do not think she really knows what they really costs but she really likes the boom so I get away with it as long as the bills are paid.

I figure, if you have no mortgage, you might as well buy a few. They are like a retirement fund. You can always sell them off once you're too old to enjoy them or possibly lose interest.

If you have a mortgage, well then you have a gratification problem.

Norks are cheap enough that you can justify one or maaaaybbeee two but once you get talkin LRB, well you better be mortgage free or that LRB will cost you $30,000 in mortgage payments, and that's just not healthy.

If you doubt the 30K, just download a mortgage amortization schedule and enter your mortgage parameters. Then add up how many payments you will need to make before the principal is reduced by the cost of your LRB. If you have a mortgage you might be real surprised what the number adds up to.

Wow, I don't have a mortgage so I'm not familiar with the maths behind it, but 30,000$ really? That's some food for tough. What's the price of an LRB after tax and import?

I'm really tempted by the black feather for a compact light weight build. I'm built on a cat frame, so every oz helps lol

Dake I am in the same boat, really love this rifle and looking for a tactical stock (I'm also from NS).
I Really like m14.ca stuff, have their mount which has great fit and finish and they are great to deal with.
Only catch is the price (which is much cheaper than most other aftermarket stocks).
Anyone know if any AR butt stock fit on the blackfeather?
and does the Archangel have picatinny rails on the stock.
I'm am new to the rifle customizing world and this site.

thanks

Your F@CKED now, lol. Just kidding. I started off with a shorty bought off of POP on CGN, he had tweaked it up and then got out of the platform. I tweaked it a bit more at one of Tactical Teachers clinics and then decided I needed a 22" so I bought one, then decided I needed a National Match M1A, now I have that. Now thinking I need an LRB or a JRA, maybe both. Once you start it doesn't stop, try to have willpower!!!! It doesn't matter, it won't work. And still thinking I need another Shorty Norc to replace the one I sold. That said I have a problem, I see a gun I want and I buy it. Yes, I have a problem. Isn't it great :)

It's more than a fever, it's an addiction

I love the M14s just because they are just so fun to build!
I just finished this one and I actually do like the Archangel stock, the gun fits very securely and has no play.

Quickest cure is realizing you are not buying an M-14. You may be able to pop down Stateside to one of the MG shoots(Not the shop in Vegas. No rifles there.) and shoot a real M-14 though.
Decide what you want to do with an M305/M1A. Decide how much money you can spend, including optics if you think you need that.

You know what I love most about my M305s? It's that they're real, honest to gosh, actual M14s. I firmly believe this because I can't read, and I'm an idiot. If only there was someone out there on the moderate end of the autism spectrum who could pedantically remind me every...single...time it comes up...
