M14 -> Finland?

A receiver is an excellent idea!

Receiver is license free stuff in Canada? If so, how about sending one straight to Finland? Receiver needs a license here in Finland but it would be easy, just get it from customs with license...

I would also contact Questar about this, and maybe CanAm. both are pretty knowledgeable about import/export stuff.
I'd love to know the prices of Sako TRG parts in Finland myself.

Just tell me what prices you want to know and i'll check them for you :)

It is the gun here too - you need the possession and acquisition license (PAL) or if it is a restricted firearm then you need an (RPAL)...

But if you are planning to heavily customize your M14 - you can just buy the receiver and spend the least amount of money - then add on the parts you want to make it exactly how you want.

:)

Have you checked with Frankonia out of Germany? They import/distribute the Norinco rifles...

I havent, thanks for the info. I'll check it out if they have a webshop and if not call them tomorrow... ...and hope they speak english :p.

Ok receiver is licensed there as it's here. Whole rifle would be better, i'm going to heavily modify it but it would be nice to have all the original parts also :)

PL84: this is off topic, but are Finnish Lahti M39 20mm anti tank guns legal/available in finland?

Mark

You can try to get license to whatever you want, nothing is out of limits... Kind of..

Truth is that normal person cant get license for a 20mm Lahti M39 :)... Neither for a full automatic weapon. If you are registered gun collector, then there isn't any limits (but your license still could say that you can buy those weapons but you CANT shoot with them, rare but some collectors are under that kind of license)

We can quite easily get lisences for almost any kind of shotguns or semi-auto rifles becouse they are easily justified by hunting... When you fill your license papers they wont ask you what kind of weapon you buy, just what caliber. Bolt action, semi-auto or full auto and what kind of weapon is it (Shotgun, Rifle, Pistol/Revolver or "Other weapon").

Thing is that "Rifles" are here weapons that have a fixed stock and they are atleast 840mm long. So if you want to buy a real M4 carbine or something with a folding stock you need a license for a "Other weapon" and that isn't so easy anymore... You really dont need folding stock or a carbine size weapon when you hunt :)... Same for pistols and revolvers, they aren't so easy. You need proof that you have 2 years of shooting experience etc etc... And you really need to proof it, one note with your friends signature saying so isn't enough :)

So if you get license for a .223 rem semi-auto rifle you can buy whatever you want, AR-15, Mini-14 etc... Same if you get a license for semi auto 12-gauge shotgun you can buy normal benelli/whatever semi-auto shotgun or Saiga "combat shotgun". Every gun needs it's own license, one gun one license. 2 shotguns = 2 licenses etc...

PL84,

I am curious if Valmets M78's are available over there? If you figure out the import export game between Canada and Finland, you could probabbly work out a trade for an M14 or do a good business importing M78s to Canada since it is the one AK variant that is not prohibited and they command a premium.

in regards to the Sako, anything, mags, bipod, folding stock, suppressor (just for curiousity), mirage band, tactical forward rail etc.

PL84: I don't know much (anything really) re gun shops or shooting organizations in Finland and I'm guessing that most of the other here are in the same situation. If you could, would you please post a couple of links. I'm sure a lot of folks would find it interesting.

By do you know of any Lathi M39 20mm for sale?

M78 is the "LMG" version of M76 right? With heavier barrel etc?... Those are quite rare and really expensive here. That's becouse gun shops here sell a big variety of different AK variants so no need for a "LMG" version...

We got Norinco 56S for 400-500 euros
Different Saigas from 400-700 euros
etc etc, and of course the best one, our own Sako M92S for about 1000-1500 euros (they aren't manufacturing it anymore so it's not cheap)... I haven't seen any Valmet Hunters here, i think it's a export model only(?)... M62, M76 Valmet's are expensive becouse there isn't so much them in civilian markets (converted to semi auto). Cheapest one i found is valmet M76 chambered to stupid .222rem for 2000 euros... And M76 is prohibited there?

Hmm, "original" army issue stuff is quite rare here. Everyone bolts "whatever kind" of bipods, stocks etc to their sakos... Folding stocks are big no no here in Finland so none is bothered to sell Sako folding stocks here. If you are interested about Galil's folding stock (quite similiar) it's something about 200 euros, big price for a piece of metal and rubber... I think only part easily found is mags, and even those aren't cheap becouse everyone uses cheap russian/whatever AK mags in their sakos... Lots of suppressors are hand made, there is some models you can get straight from the gun shops but they are so expensive that you can get better with same price by paying someone with skills to make it. Galil's rail system is popular here in AK variants. Here is a photo of mine (bolted to my friends ak-47 airsoft), just waiting for my AK-74 that i finally get from gunsmith next week :) (telescope stock, pistol grip and rail system are my parts and going to my AK74 when i get it next week)

Rail system ~300 euros, pistol grip about 40 euros and telescope stock with recoil buffering about 200 euros.
