I was wondering what my options are for a folding stock on an m14? I've seen the Choate stocks and they are (in my opinion) uuuuugly! The McMillan folders look nice except that they use m4 stocks (what the f...?) and are pricey. I actually like the look of the old BM59 folders and I know that they can be adapted for the M14 but where can you find one besides the states? Is their anyone who makes stocks like this? DaveGP maybe?
 
You are correct .
The only one that use to sell the stocks (BM59 folders) made for the M14 is Reese surplus and they are sold out .
Tony at law483.com can make you one, but I do not know if she ships to Canada .I have a couple,but I am not selling mine :lol: .
They are really alot of fun.
 
I really like my homebrew special. It's a Butler Creek folder for a Mossberg 500.

This is the Mk I version, on the chu wood stock. The Mk II will be on a birch (Thanx MikeBaker) and will have just a bit less cant to it.
As it is now, when open the stock lets me take a real solid cheek-weld dead center on the scope. However that makes it just a touch too high for the irons. The Mk II will be set up to use a lower scope mounting system and with a slightly shorter distance from the grip to the trigger.

With the combo of the A-2 type FE, the recoil pad and the slight flexing of the steel tubing, it is noticably more comfortable to shoot.

To mount the stock I epoxied a big nut into the wood so the folder is removable, just like if it were on a shotgun.
 
Splatter, not too bad, but I'm looking for something more like the BM59 folders, they're much more compact and streamlined when folded, kind of like the old mini 14 folders.

the one time I used a Chinese stock [ Balsa??] for a folder = the one time I had a stock returned due to breakage. The owner [ 280 lbs ] dived into rollover prone, with the folder extended, and the thin 2 1/2" drywall screws popped right out of the very soft wood. It was easily fixed with MORE epoxy and BIGGER screws, and he still has that stock, but I never again put all that work into a chinese stock.

PS: I bought a cracked Fiberglass stock from mike baker, and have already cut it down to length [ NOTE: If attempting a folder with a GI glass stock, there is a metal insert embedded in the glass at the pistol grip - so don't use Dad's favorite miter saw for the job ].

This one is supposedly going to become the inside bedding surface for an aluminum tubing do-it-your self SAGE clone ... as soon as I get time and ambition in the same place. If I ever get it finished, i'll post the instructions for that on too.
