Anyone know of any local suppliers for the above? Brownells, etc have them, but exchange, shipping, etc is a killer.

Duct tape fails, the correct tool does not and lasts a lifetime. It's cheap at $24.

Good idea. I use a similar method with a large Adjustable spanner.
