I've called 4 gunsmiths in Calgary and no one touches m14s, especially norincos, does anyone know anybody around here that handles m14s or am I going to have to just send it to m14doc?

I have sent mine to Jeff at Valley Gunsmith in Ontario because I couldn't find anyone in Alberta.
M14Doc has a good reputation and would be a top choice as well, lots of threads on his work here. Does beautiful work on stocks.

thank you to those here mentioning my services....... but.... my rifle bench is closed to new work for a few months, with the exception of those who have already received a shorty quote or for installing krieger barrels.... I am still able to help those folks out.... if the work is sent in this month.
as for what rifle smith to send your m14 to during my down time..... there is a few out there, fewer still who's work is recommendable. I can however recommend anyone who needs work done to send it to DOUG at Elwood Epps, it's all the way to ontario..... but you get what you pay for ;) . Though I am not sure if anyone else does NM TIG unitizing.

Well doc I think I'll just leave it the way it is and check back in a few months and send it in then, ps do you have a norinco factory flash hider for sale? I'm putting mine in that cadpat sage Ebr I got off Morpheus so incase the fh fights me and I need to replace it.

Have you tried Stefan at The Shooting Edge?

Give Stefan at TSE a shout. I forgot that he was at my M14 clinics years ago. The funny part was when they saw my "welfare" and homemade tools, they were  surprised that I did all kinds of work with the cheap $$ tools set! Remember that Stefan and his counterpart at TSE are perfectionists and demand a high level of attention to detail out of themselves. Alongs comes Hungry with the "Welfare Method of accurizing" and :nest: happens. :p

Your projects don't sound too terribly complex, I'm sure TSE pro gunsmiths can fix you up!

Hope this helps,
Barney

I would also trust my rifle with anyone Hungry recommends as well ;)
I do have a few bayonet lug non welded, correctly machined flash hiders. shoot me a p.m. , we can discuss.

I would also recommend talking to Stefan if you haven't done so already. I don't know if M14s are his forte, but I was satisfied with the job he did mounting Heinie sights on my Browning Hi Power. Better yet, it was done in the time-frame he quoted me.

PM me and I'll put you in contact with a local who can unitize your gas system. What else you looking at doing?
