M14 in .358 Winchester?

A few months ago, my uncle mentioned he wants a semiauto rifle with a ten round magazine, in a calibre larger than .308. So I was thinking an M14 rebored to .358 would be perfect, especially since he reloads .38 and .357.

Anyone know how much it would cost to rebore a Norinco to .358?

Might be better to just buy a custom barrel. One of the sponsors on here was tooling up to make custom caliber M14 barrels. It might have been Heron Arms but I'm not entirely sure.

10 round mag in this country? Worth a trip to Club Fed?
 
Boy I can't wait for those AIA's to prompt the law makers to limit all mags to 5.....

But keep posting videos and rubbing it in their faces.....
 
An M305 is not an M-14.
.358 was one of the original M1A chamberings. Rebarreling is the way to go though. If you can find a barrel. I'd contact Mystic Precision and ask.
.38 Special and .357 Mag have nothing to do with the .358 Win though.

.358 is a .308 with a larger bullet. It will fit in a .308 magazine and chamber, just like .243, 7mm-08, and .338 Federal.

The bullets are the same diameter, meaning they can be used to reload .358 cartridges.

The barrel maker would ensure the gas port in the barrel is the appropriate size for that cartridge, therefore no gas system adjustment required.
Just like the 308 M1 barrels.

Like I said earlier, the barrel maker would ensure the gas port in the barrel would be the appropriate size, and it would only allow as mush gas pressure as needed to work the action. If the 358 runs higher pressure at the gas port, a smaller hole would be drilled so the correct amount of gas would enter the gas cylinder. No mods needed.
