So the Op rod on my M14 is pretty darn loose.
It has a couple cm of play back and fourth, and I'm sure this is because of where it attaches to the barrel (at the op rod guide).

My question is this...how do i fix this so that contact is made with my piston in the same spot every time?
Its probably pretty bad for accuracy to have that thing rattling around in their.
THANKS

A couple of centimeters? CENTIMETERS of play???

I'm thinking you must have meant millimeters?

Also, pics will help if the problem is as drastic as you say it is.

Punch out the factory pin (assuming you have a variety of pin punches) and replace with Princess Auto sourced roll pins. Roll pins are cheap! This is part of the discovery into tweaking process that I teach at the clinics. Makes mistakes, have fun! :D That's how I got started!

I replaced the pins o mine too. I didn't have any back and forth issues, but did notice that it moved a bit side to side. Fixed now.

Listen to Hungry. Mine had some play before I took it to the Halifax M-14 clinic, and at the clinic, we fixed the problem by replacing the pin. It turned out that the pin had actually shattered into several fragments some time before.

i had exactly the same issue. Pin shattered into 3 pieces causing a few cm of play. Punched out the shards replaced pin and its good to go.
