Hi
My first posting on the CGN site. I'm considering purchasing a tri-rail handguard mount for my new Norinco M305, but I have a couple of questions.
Here's a link to view the mount (I would be purchasing from a Canadian source) http://www.thecountryshed.com/m14_m1a_scope_mounts.htm.
First does anyone know if this mount will fit on the Norinco? Secondly has anyone had experience with this mount-is it solid or does it tend to move?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I have a UTG rail on my 2009 Norinco m14s , it went on with no issues and is rock solid , i also have the stripper clip guide which is also rock solid and lines up perfectly .

Overall very impressed , not a bad piece of kit especially if you dont want to shovel out for an expensive scope mount .

Are you talking about the UTG. If so I had one worked great for the scout configuration. But if you want to use a standard scope I would op for a standard type mount I would go steal. I'm using a Promag and am impressed with it and the price was right I got it from Jerry at Mystic

The UTG didn't fit that well on my Norc. Receiver mounting hole was too high on the rail and line of sight was too low to adjust the scope in. The entire rail was too long and had to be trimmed shorter.
To fix all this I raised the forward mounting saddles with JB weld 1/8", maybe a tad less. Raising the front brought the line of sight up to impact and caused the receiver mounting hole to come down to the threaded hole.
Dunno if my barrel had a different diameter at the base or what but it works now.

I got it from one of the CGN sponsors.

No problems sofar....I like It.:D

I bought a UTG rail from Fabsports. It came with both of the clips that loop under the barrel of the same size, so I had to do a bit of dremelling on the rearmost one to get it to fit. Once that was done, it mounted solid, but I found that the rail was a little high for a proper cheek weld and it added weight to what's already a fairly hefty rifle. The top rail also seemed a little narrow; a QD mount that fit properly on other rails required some shimming to grip properly. This wouldn't be an issue with rings.

Eventually I wound up taking it off; I found I shot that rifle better with irons, and enjoyed the irons more than the red dot I was using. I really should get around to selling it.

Short answer, it worked, but for the sort of shooting I like irons are the better solution.

That's funny, my rail came with 4 saddle clips(2 req'd), all different sizes. That's why I suspected some variation in the barrel profile to be the issue with my fit. The M14 irons are as good as your eyesight with a nice cheek weld. Any scope mount is probably going to need a riser.

I wait for them next week

I think it was Fabsports.
Good service.
