Who's hunted with their M14 / M305 this year? I just came back from an enjoyable couple of days out whitetail hunting with mine. Got a very nice opportunity to take a decent sized doe at around 50 yards and took it. Used Federal Vital Shock 150 grain bullets with (nosler) ballistic tips. A front quartering shot that didn't create an exit wound. Very significant blood trail and deer went approx 60 feet before coming to rest. Scope proved to be valuable as it was nearing the end of allowable after sunset. All in all I'd say I'm pretty happy with the gun. I'd prefer it if the gun had no flash suppressor, as the birdcage style suppressor makes a noticeable tinny sound if it rubs against brush or even long grass. I'm considering a Smith USCG flash suppressor as my next upgrade. It would be nice if it allowed an chance to see the aftermath of a shot through the scope, if that's not asking for too much. A tactical sling was also a great asset on walks, as it kept the gun at ready without having to hold the gun at all times.

Lets here how others are doing.

i did take mine with me on the trip i just got back from in the B.C. interior....hunted with it on saturday but no game down. On sunday I opted for the nostalgia of my .303 lithgow... due to rememberance day and all.
bagged me a nice mulie doe and a real nice mature 4x4 buck. Was also wearing my poppy ... in head to toe camo..... both deer shot on rememberance day.
Will be hunting with my m14s for the remainder of the season.... I have a cow elk draw to fill between december and end of feb and I'm looking at some February deer population control hunts that may pop up in northern b.c. this fall. I may need to take some distance shots so I'll be sure to post up the results if my hunts are successful.

I went out for deer a few weeks back, I will be heading out this weekend as well, with my m305 of course. I loaded up some 150 gr. Barnes TSX bullets. I will see how they perform. I have heard many good things about them

She was grouping well with Federal 150gr power shock Sp .... I wanted Vital Shocks but no one close to me has any in stock. I hunted high and low for ammo ... couldn't find anything under 180gr. Stumbled on 2 boxes of power shock 150gr at a local cantire and snapped em up at 19.99 a box. :D
sighted in with the first box and have one left for hunting... going to keep looking for Vital Shocks, I really like the performance from the nosler partition
and every caliber i have shot with factory federal vital shocks has grouped really well and performed excellent on game, especially at 300 yards where it really counts.

Hunting with M-305

I shot a 20 pt. Bull moose(700 lb.'s dressed).
Double lung shot at 150 yards using 168 gr. Winchester Balistic Silvertip.
No exit wound, Moose ran about 50 yards and dropped.
Will be using it later this year for Caribou.
Great rifle for hunting.
