Just got my new M14 and when I manually cycle the action it doesn't always pull the dummy round out of the bore. (Does every second time) I am assuming it isn't always hooking the ejector 'catch' over the lip on the casing. Is this a common issue? Suggestions?

Thanks.

Are you easing the bolt forward or letting it go under its own power? Is there any preservation grease hidden under the extractor?

My M305 has not had the extraction problems you describe.

+2 Don't baby this thing let her fly. Just like an AR 15 or M16 you have to release the cocking handle and let it go on it's own. Mine had no problem with any rounds I put through it. Treat it like a reheaded stepchild. It can handle it. No aftermarket parts needed!!!

Just take it out a shoot it.

I doubt there will be a problem

If there is I would say that since it is every 2nd round that a mag lip is bent.

First thing is to just shoot it though, remember this is a military firearm.....she likes it rough, as everyone says don't baby it.

I am letting it pick the rounds out of the magazine, could just be a little tight or not getting enough or a whallop to lock onto the casing when I cycle the second round through. (It never seems to happen with the first round) OR some brown goop I have missed... there sure was alot of it.

Thanks guys, I am probably just being too 'nice' to it, and too apprehensive.
