Does anyone know where in Canada or even better BC I can get a railed upper hand guard for my M14. I've been looking for one that look like this but cant find one anywhere.

P.s. Please excuse my noobness this is my first Thread

hi, i'm a newbie and this is my first post, so please excuse my newbiness.

i just recently purchased a 2009 M14 off of a fellow gunnutter and i noticed that the top handguard is pretty cheap. thought about getting a UTG tri-rail.
but first things first, i dropped of my M14 to Dlask to get the barrel chopped. I noticed that he sold UTG product and inquired about the tri-rail. he said to me that he may be making his own tri-rail out of steel. i might just wait for one of those! if you can't wait i've seen the UTG tri-rail on the EE. i haven't seen one in person so i can't really comment on how it is.

Anone install one of these who cares to share?

*EDIT*
Clamps directly to barrel for maximum stability and accuracy. Allows use of Intermediate Eye Relief (IER) "Scout" scope, pistol scopes, reflex sights, and holographic weapon sights. Comes complete with screws, barrel clamps, recoil lug, Allen wrenches, and easy instructions. No gunsmithing or alterations required.

Steel tri-rail no thanks too heavy for me plus I don't really see the point when aluminum has so many benefits.

The Ultimiak is a fantastic product can't say enough good about it.

Here's mine with a UTG tri rail. Held zero no problem even with an NCstar pistol scope with IER.

Have since replaced my optics with a Leupold Scout Scope and removed the rubber rail covers.

How does the scope work well so far forward? I try to get mine as far back as possible just to see through the scope.

You need to use a scout scope or pistol scope with IER for that configuration. They are very forgiving with eye relief, unlike traditional scopes.

Shoots well but our range is 100yd max and I was getting 2-3" groups. No tuning done so I'm happy.

Just found a UTG tri rail from M14.ca The same as Spearhunter's pics. It is awesome!!!
Ya it looks like Frank from M14.ca has actually took some of the input from our great debate on this website about his mount and made a winner.

Now hopefully he can start to work on adjusting this price by around $20 then it will be worth the money but $90 it's still 1/4 of the price of the rifle and you still have to buy a red dot. Never the less Good Job Frank!

I put a UTG rail on mine. Wasn't too happy with the fit. Maybe a problem with my barrel profile but I had to shim the front higher to zero the scope and get the receiver bolt to line up properly. A set of Burris scope rings with inserts has been my latest addition to get the scope closer to the center of it's adjustment. I never did install the side rails.
I did take a short rail and install it underneath for a bi-pod and moved the sling mount to the side.

I would suggest trying the Ultimak rail.
And you'll need a long eye relief scope. I used a Hi Lux Optics LER 2-7 power I got from Wolverine.

the steel unit joe is working on is my design for a rear accessory to the UTG and will be adjustable for use in conjunction with the Knights Armament M14/RAS, Leaper's UTG Tri Rail and all models of Sage International stocks....... and lets not forget the AKM. It will not be of any use to those with an ultimak, it sits too low.

good to hear work has started on this project, it's been a long time coming :D
I was not going to say anything until i receive the first run but i hear we are close. full details at time of release. Please do not p.m. me with questions, at this time , not to be rude , they will not be answered :D

When I bought the UTG rail it came with a short rail intended to go in the stripper clip guide.
It would have been way too low to line up with the front rail. If I recall the tip of the front sight was just barely visible above the UTG rail. Not ideal but certainly useable.
However, if my barrel diameter at the receiver was larger than the standard profile that would explain all of my misalignment issues that other people haven't reported.

I actually just starting making a vid about how to correct this. Its actually not a problem unique to the UTG and the fix it easy.

use a caliper on your barrel right , it should be 1.1" at the widest point.
some UTG rails I have met have the receiver side screw hole just slightly too low. solve this with a small file and remove meterial from the top of the hole only untill the UTG sits level. Use a small level on the flat edge behind the rear sight and one on the UTG. trial fit and adjust the hole as needed.
Not say this is the issue Perforator is having ..... but it is one i've run across when fitting the UTG.

NO this is not correct. Sorry Doc once you see it you'll agree.

well.... LOL..... it is correct on the ones i have found it on...... the incorrect placement of the hole anyways. Not common at all, but common enough to have done the mod 5 or 6 times for guys at clinics and clients. So again, :D , not saying it's the issue perforator is having..... but it's one issue i've seen ;)

looking forward to your vid  .... but sadly i can't watch it unless you email it to me and i save it to view offline..... dial up sux out here in the sticks :D
