Hi gents,

The last few trips to the range I've been wondering to myself if the added weight of my EBR is really worth all the rail I've attached nothing to; which leads me to this question, does anyone know where to get a McMillan stock in Canada, or which if any of the US retailer's export to Canada?
 
Did you know you can remove your side and bottom rails?
I believe McMillan stock requires bedding. Is it really lighter?

Did you consider the M14.ca blackfeather chassis? It's lighter and more slim than the Sage chassis. And cheaper than the Sage or McMillan while not of lesser quality.
 
You can order a McMillan stock directly from them. But expect at least a 6 months wait, and they do require bedding. I have an M2A on order with them.
 
M-14 parts are restricted for export by the U.S government(M1A parts are not) and U.S retailers don't care about our market.
McMillan stocks are advertised as M1A stocks. No mention of direct sales to Canada on their site, but I've seen 'em advertised somewhere. Naturally I forget where. These guys. Add the W's. .canadiantactical.ca/main.html
 
McMillan stocks are nice, but they require bedding, and they are usually as heavy, sometimes heavier than a SAGE EBR.
If your barrel is a standard weight, you should consider the Blackfeather "RS".
If not, try removing some rails from the SAGE.
 
From personal experience, you can order a McMillan stock directly from them and they will ship to Canada. Expect to wait as little as one month or as much as six months depending on the stock model and how you want it configured. Their M1A stock is oversize for the supermatch rifles and run heavier than the hardwood stocks. The M1A stock requires a bedding job to fit your action because the cutouts are made larger to fit all M1A type actions. There is no steel liner piece in the stock. Also, there are no holes drilled for the buttplate or sling swivel mounts. You will have to drill all the holes for the metalwork and you may also have to clean up rough parts.
 
Mcmillan stocks are not light. And H20 Man is right, maybe not lighter than a sage
The ones I've handled seem to ballpark in the 4lbs range without hardware.
