I have a norinco M14 and it is having a missfire issue. It looks like the breach is not closing properly and when the firing pin goes forward the primer is struck but not hard enough to make it fire.

You really, really don't want it to fire if it's not closing all the way!

First, check that the chamber has no foreign objects and that the bore is clear if you haven't, which should be done every time you shoot anyway.

Check that the opertaing rod moves freely over it's range and that the gas piston slides back and forth freely when the op rod is locked back.

Then report back here.

Check for clearance inside the stock to make sure the op rod isn't hitting wood as its moving into its forward most position. Look at the front right inside edge of the stock, just forward of the action, beneath the handguard.

Check also, the edge of the handguard closest to the bolt handle. Sometimes the forward travel can be limited by the handguard.

Oh, and silly question, but you did bring the bolt handle back and just let it fly, you didn't try and slow it down and gently put it in place? It has to be let go with authority.

i have the same problem, because i was using reload. however, push the op rod all the way in so the ammo will chamber. that's what i did and it works.

WTF??

as stated... the oprod needs to fly home with "authority"
the rifle is designed for the oprod to do all the work in chambering a round other than you pulling it back and letting it fly home...... it basically slams the round into the chamber. do not fire the gun if you have to close the bolt by hand...... take it back to where you bought it... plain and simple

And when you release the op. rod to let the action close, the round should be in the magazine, not sitting in the chamber.

Or bring it to the support group meeting to be checked out. :)
