M14 Norinco

I found Norinco guns from 2007 to be the best. Polytech M14s are s**t real bad and need too much work and time just to make it any type of a shooter As I say you can put lip stick on a pig,But its still a PIG.

It's this a consensus? Is there really such a difference? I had thought Norinco and Polytech were the exact same thing?

I'm in the market for one of these now so I'm interested to know what people think of this. It'll be my first rifle (along with a 22) so I'd like to avoid major headache!

The 2 2009 polytechs I owned were fine ....the usual problems but nothing major.
Others on here have said the opposite ...that the Polytechs were finished a little nicer.

My newest one is a CanAm Shorty (Norinco) and the finish work on that one is nicer than my 2 Polytechs

It would be best if you could examine the rifle first and look for the comman faults alot of them have. And alot of the faults are fairly easy to fix .

1 . rear sights on lots are junk
2. op rod guide loose and misaligned
3. barrel index incorrect or front sight milled at an angle
4. gas cylinder in need of shimming or the gas lock needs to be reversed
5. really stiff safety lever
