a local dealer tells me that his m14s are factory firsts, and that a lot of other guys are selling what he called "factory seconds." marstar in particular he singled out. now i ordered an m14 from marstar and i have no idea if he's just full of it or what. i found it kind of strange since if my memory serves marstar is the original importer of the rifle in canada and i find it odd that a company would not take care of their original and biggest buyer in the country.

i have yet to shoot it. is this "factory seconds" stuff true or a bunch of BS? do some dealers have better stuff?

BS! marstar is a stand up company! the only thing you may notice is the barrel might not be index right the front sight may be a little off. other then that grease her up good and blast away

HA HA HA, that's a first!

My 2007 Marstar M14 is a great gun! Factory seconds, HA HA HA!

Did this local dealer offer you a better warranty than Marstar offers with their Ironclad Guarantee?

Chuckle!

Cheers

Please name the dealer! What is his warranty on a Norc/Poly M14/305. My guess is little or none!!! On another note, how is the barrel indexing appear to be on yours? Have you checked it out? Or is it just a flash hider out of spec or sight base out of spec like some others have found? Easy fix if that's the case!

Cheers

You should ask the LGS when the last time was that he went overseas to the factory that makes the gun to check on QC.

Likely Lever Arms or some affiliate. Still butthurt that Marstar got into the M14S market all those years ago. Lever was selling them for $800 and were the only importers at the time, and Marstar imported and sold them at $400.....pretty much shutting that price jacking down.

yeah, this guy is in the east end of winnipeg, runs a gunstore/firing range. pretty crappy attitude too, aside from fibbing. he's pissy because he's charging more than most places (though admittedly, not terribly so) and then justifying it with his "factory firsts" routine i guess. was in their for some ammo and when i told him i got my rifle from marstar he said: i bet its loose all over and ####ty (paraphrasing). went to get some ammo and he asks me why since i can get it five dollars cheaper somewhere else. i'm pretty sorry i bought another gun off him this summer, could have spent those hundreds somewhere a little more professional. needless to say he's right: canada ammo is about sixty dollars cheaper for the same ammo. i went there hoping to conduct business with a local guy, but needless to say i left and won't be going back. guy's got problems i guess, too bad he takes it out on his customers.

Hmm east end of Winnipeg...ok so let me take a stab and say it's Xtreme yep...he was quite rude when I went in excited to buy and the fella working there actually laughed at me when I asked a reasonable question about a jr carbine. I felt like a an idiot for asking a question...a customer looking to spend a 1000 $ dollars shouldn't be made to feel like an a**. I did my business elsewhere with a helpfull answer to my question :).

(The question was regarding left handed shooting and how easy it would be to switch the ejection port/charging handle)

Maybe I should have researched a bit more..but I would have never expected to be laughed at by a salesperson and fellow firearms guy for trying to get educated from what is supposed to be a professional.

Nothing but good things about my dealings with Marstar !!

Love my m305 (long barrel)

RING A DING DING, you solved it! haha, yup swell fella eh.

I have purchased 5 M305's from Marstar over the years. very happy with all of them.

But, there is an element of truth about seconds. I have it from a trusted source (a dealer) who imports directly from China that various lots of guns come up for sale and some dealers have reps over there that examine and test guns from the offered lot. Some dealers pass on some lots.

So a dealer who passes on a lot might very well consider those guns as "seconds" when offered by another dealer.
